are you saying you don't try to shove it down everyone's throat here in vj?

I'm sorry, but I have GOT to ask: Why do you ALWAYS side with whatever Arab governments do, no matter how cruel and unnecessary and HORRIBLE and violent their behavior is? You know, I 'get' that you're a very religious Muslim, and that's cool, but for goodness' sake these governments do NOT represent God or Islam and they are not manifestations of God's will on Earth either. They're just regimes that wish to use religion and cultural tradition as a means of control which are run by human beings, not God. And no, I am NOT saying that the US government is perfect, not by any means, but your rush to defend these governments and all that they do all of the time is very, very, very strange. I mean... how can you side with the death penalty for this "offense" and say "well, if they don't like it..." as though Saudi law in this regard is completely reasonable? As though two men having sex with each other is akin to mass murder or that it hurts anyone at all, for that matter. Right.

Isn't there any part of you that sees how ridiculous killing someone for having sex with someone else is? Don't you also realize how all this control does NOT make society any better or more religious -- it just makes people better at hiding their "deviant" behavior and practice fake piety to keep themselves safe. Not having gay sex out of fear of death won't make anyone who's gay any less gay -- the person will just find a secret way to have gay sex and gay relationships, as evidenced by the fact that this wedding was happening at all lol.

But then... if they don't like Saudi laws and punishments, they should just leave, shouldn't they? Yes, because it's that easy. Unless.... a person happens to be female... in which case, they need permission from male family members to do so, don't they, and if they don't have that permission... I guess they're stuck where they are, aren't they? :rolleyes:

I don't have any problem with you or anything, but I just really can't understand how you can honestly support and defend EVERYTHING that these governments do all the time, always, no matter what. Doesn't any part of a government wishing to behead someone for having consensual sex with another adult kind of rub you the wrong way? A little bit? At all?
