How about finding some stats on this to discuss instead of the vague inference you make? How many are we really talking about? In the last 5 years versus before? Is it getting worse or is everyone in the US more hyper-wound about seeing it.

I'm always amazed at US reactions now that terrorism has been brought home. Ask any Londoner why they haven't had trashcans on their sidewalks for 20 years...none of this stuff is particularly new. People here in the US just finally got their wake up call.

actually... i got mine many yrs ago when I moved to Germany for a while.. RAF bombings, killings for mil ID's.. explosive checks under cars, fire bombing of my school bus... oh yeah.. joyous days :P

Sounds like it!

And my apologies, I did very much generalize the US reaction to terrorism. I do acknowledge that not every one is running around all terrorized n stuff. :)

heh.. not to worry.. but on the generality part.. you are spot on. it was always "over there" untill NYC.. even the first few attempts it got brushed under the rug fairly quickly. as long as it was "over there" the US could play deaf dumb n blind and be blissfully happy in their ignorance.

Ill bite...why arent there any trashcans on the streets of London??

The IRA had a tendency to put bombs in them.

When I visited in 2002 there was nary a trashcan in sight. And I don't believe IRA bombings had been happening for a bit at that point.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

According to islam101.com, Indiana has 180,000 Muslims. Virginia has 150,000. Texas has 140,000. Ohio has 130,000.

Red states, all. Some redder than others.

And the top states are (surprise, surprise): California, New York, Illinois.

In terms of cities though, Los Angeles is #1 and Detroit/Dearborn is #2

The IRA had a tendency to put bombs in them.

When I visited in 2002 there was nary a trashcan in sight. And I don't believe IRA bombings had been happening for a bit at that point.

That was the incident up north (can't remember what town it was offhand) but a young kid got killed by a bin bomb.

Ever notice that there are a distinct shortage of trash-cans in UK airports too. Which is a funny - because you can be yelled at for leaving a coffee cup under the seat in the waiting area...

no the moral is... stupid ppl do stupid shite and justify it to suite themselves and their own way of thinking. hate breeds hate. that is a LEARNED response.. its not natural.

Agreed but ignorance and naivity breeds death. World war II was a great example of this. The world stood back and did nothing. Even played down hilters intentions. The end result was 50,000,000 people DEAD!.

The same thing is happening nowadays. The difference is that Hilter and co were not guided by religious fundamentalists. Islamic Fundamentalists believe there is no limit in the measures they can take to get their twisted point across. They make hilter look like a child..

So we can either sit here and play dumb or do something about it now before it excalates into a massive problem where billions are surely going to perish..

Mr Hilter - wasn't that the guy in the Monty Python sketch? ;)

What many people seem to forget is that we have the RIGHT to dislike whomever we choose. I can hate pedophiles, drunk drivers, Muslims, Christians, Barney the Dinosaur, and Hospice workers if I want to, and not a damn one of you can tell me that I'm wrong for doing so. Who I love, hate, trust, distrust, admire, and revile is my own personal opinion. No one has the right to tell me I need to change how I feel.

Hate, dislike, and suspicion are valid feelings and are of no concern to anyone else. ACTIONS based upon those feelings however are when others become involved. I can sit here and hate muslims all I want. Until I turn that to action and plot to harm some, or actually do harm them, it's no one else's problem.

If I want to believe that Islam is a relgion of hate, that's my right. If I want to believe that Christians are close-minded, spineless sheep, that is also my right. No one can tell me that I'm not allowed to feel this way.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

The difference is, if you as a non-religious person decide this is how you want to live your life you are not bound by any church dictates or religious dogma to do so. A religious person may have a similar right, but they're accountable to their god(s) (or presumably would feel they are), and due to the vocal and public nature of extolling said beliefs, will be held accountable by others for them too. Not to mention many religious people being more than vocal against your choices because it doesn't fit their paradigm of right and wrong. ;)

The only beauty at the end is when they really don't believe that you don't care.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
