MTL Consulate PO box address....

Just wondering...

Has anyone sent an Xpresspost mailer to the consulate in Montreal using the PO address? Reason I'm asking is - the letter I got from the consulate said to mail my updated form and passport to the PO box address (which I did). The Xpresspost was supposed to be delivered today, it GOT to Montreal but wasn't delivered and now a lil part of me is worried that maybe I shouldn't have sent it to the PO box address (even tho the letter clearly said to mail to that address).

Bleh - just my luck....

If the box was full they might of left a pick up slip for them instead, also sometimes they will just deliver the next day if the box is full.

Well when we went to our interview, I brought along two Xpress envelopes, one for my stuff and one for my son's. The interviewer only wanted one of the envelopes, so I brought the other one back home and used it to send this paperwork/passports back to Montreal.

I just realized, after wracking my brain, the envelope has that signature sticker thingie on it (because we were going to use it for MTL to send our stuff back here) but it's addressed to the PO box.

Does anyone here happen to work for Canada post by chance? *crosses fingers*

Or am I just hooped? Gah I'm a bit freaked out....

Thanks for your answer btw Inky, I appreciate it.

As long as they can track it, they can find it. If it can't be delivered, it comes back to you.

Oh well, I guess I just have to let this play out. I was kinda hoping there might be somewhere I could call to either a)change the delivery address to the consulate's physical address or b) tell them not to bother about the signature.

With USPS online, you can go to their website and enter some short instructions for the carrier.

Thanks for everyone's help, appreciate it.

Just called Canada post for an update - it's still showing as "2010/09/10 - 21:42 - MONTREAL -Item processed at postal facility"

Apparently they can't see whether it's out for delivery today either and no traces can be initiated until 5pm today. Gah, I'm about to lose my mind, that envelope has the passports in it.

Figures, I've mailed a million things, nothing ever gets lost - but when I mail THE most important thing, it goes screwy.

GAH!

I just got off the phone with Canada post - after 6 calls in the last 24 hours, I FINALLY got to speak to a trace investigator and she tells me....

"Well we can see it got to the Montreal postal facility on Sept 10th but that's as far as I can see. Tomorrow I'll talk to the delivery section to see if they have any record of it being delivered. Could you call the reciever (the consulate) to find out if they got it??"

Uhhh...what the heck...that envelope contains both my and my son's passport, some original court docs. And Canadapost has no idea where it is at the present, it could be at the postal facility, it could be delivered, it could be lost.

God I can't believe this, I send it as secure as I possibly can thru the mail service and it's disappeared.

Scary thing is, I used Xpresspost - the same thing that the consulate is supposed to mail our visas back in....I AM SO FREAKING OUT!!

Doh! I wish I had seen the DHL information that's on the new website for scheduling your own appts in Montreal, I TOTALLY would have gone that route and the damn thing would prolly already be there.

I think my head is going to explode.

Success!!

My Xpresspost envelope was delivered this morning in Montreal. The trace investigator shook something loose I guess and I am soooo thankful she did. Thank the Lord that she got involved.

AND I get a refund for my shipping charges so I'm very happy.

Thanks Valerie! Yeah it showed up a couple of hours ago and then the trace investigator lady called to say they delivered it. Apparently it was still sitting at the postal facility sorting place. Sooo glad I was a pain in the booty for Canada Post so it got found.
