Packet 4

Tired of waiting I have decided to take the advice and called the DOS (ext. 1 then 0). It was answered after few minutes and after giving the operator our details she confirmed the date of the appointment. I know it doesn't make it any sooner, but knowing the date certainly makes it "easier" to wait.

Many thanks to all who replied to my initial question and good luck to you all!

That's great! Do you by any chance know when your 3rd packet was logged in? Ours still hasn't been, and I am assuming there will still be a wait time after that to get the interview scheduled.

There isn't necessarily a wait time. I called every few days to check on things, and was always told they hadn't logged out P3 yet, but then when I called just a day or two later, our P3 was logged and we had an interview date. If there is a wait, it's only of a few days, a week at the most.

No, I'm afraid I did not ask when it was logged in so i don't know how long that takes from the Embassy receiving packet 3. However it is worth calling to check as it seems it might be some time after the interview is scheduled that they send the actual letter/packet 4 out.

Good Luck!

I call every few days to see if P3 has finally been logged as being received. Still nothing yet but hopefully that will change soon.

Good luck to everyone else waiting, this is such a painful process hah.

I have been calling DOS every few days to see if our packet had been logged in, but as of yesterday it hadn't, so I had my fiance call the embassy. We found out through email that they have no idea where are packet is and told us to just resend it. Has anyone had this happen? We sent it in with confirmation 5 weeks ago. Will we have to wait another couple of months to receive an interview date? This is so frustrating.

We sent Packet 3 on the 25th August and have not heard back, getting worried. Just read up this thread and emailed the embassy at the address LondonConsular@state.gov, got an automated reply that email was deleted without reading. I guess we'll have to phone them.

How do you find out when P3 is logged?

It's much better to call the Department of State instead of the Embassy as it costs money to call the embassy. The DOS has the same info the Embassy does. Whoever is in the US can call (202) 633-1225, press 1, then press 0 to talk to a person.

Thanks for the advice! We're both in the UK though, would someone else be able to call for us, for instance parents-in-law? Or would they not give them the info? I imagine it would cost a fortune to call the US from the UK landline, although to be honest I have no idea, I've never called a US phone number.

Actually, it could still be less. If you got a calling card for about 5 pounds, you could call the DOS for cheaper than calling the embassy. The Embassy costs 1.20 per minute, whereas a calling card could get you a rate of about 10p a minute or less.

We're both in the UK as well, and I had a friend back home call for us. I just gave her our case number and told her what to ask, and no one asked her who was calling or anything. They gave her the info just like they'd have told me.

I just got a reply to the email I sent 10 days ago, it didn't get deleted after all.

"Thank you for your email correspondence.

The Immigrant Visa Unit is awaiting receipt of a medical report in your case. If you have not yet scheduled a medical examination with the Embassy’s panel physician, Knightsbridge Doctors, information on how to do so is available from the Embassy website, here. If you have already attended a medical examination, you ay wish to contact the panel physician directly to confirm that your medical report has been forwarded to the Embassy.

As soon as the required medical report has been received, an immigrant visa interview will be scheduled for you."

I had my medical yesterday, so things should start moving soon.
