Thanks. I was thrown off by the online message that said the hardware doesn't support it. I just ordered the disk! No more plugging my laptop into my TV set!

I still do that but only when I want to watch movies I've got on a portable HD. And my laptop has an HDMI-out so its all good.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Technology is moving quickly towards everything going digital. I'm just curious how many here still watch movies on DVD? VHS? Do you watch movies that stream off the internet and if you do, do you hook up your connection to your TV or just watch on your computer?

I was watching Aeon Flux on instant view on Netflix through a Wii. Funny to watch a cartoon set in the future when there was a scene with security camera recording using a VHS tape.

ya, that disk is important !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I usually go to one of the many streaming sites such as

http://www.alluc.org/movies.html

SOmetimes it can be aggravating ( Iguess you get what you pay for) if the movie loads to0 slow but the quality and dependability are getting better all the time.

We have a Netflix DVD subscription but have been pondering the idea of trying to figure out if it's possible to stream to our ancient TV. ;) I hate trying to watch movies on the laptop, too tiny.

if your computer/TV don't have hdmi hookup you can buy some cable thing to do it. I just have no clue what it's called :P maybe the thing steven was talking about?

HULU on the laptop in bed, or DVDs borrowed from the library for free on the TV with DVD player. We "have a TV" but it is not connected to any cable or sattelite system. We use it only for watching DVDs. We all lost interest in TV long ago, even the boys have no desire to watch TV programs wedged between commericals at whatever time the TV stattions dictate you to watch them.

I have considered Netflix but haven't done it yet.

Does anyone remember when the Video stores first opened, back in the mid-80s? The charged HUGE fees to be a "member" to rent videos...like up to $300 to "join" Times they are a changin' It is Obamas fault they are all going out of business now.

get a ps3, it will stream netflix to your TV and it isn't much more $$$ than a blue ray player (ps3 has blue player). the ps3 it also wireless so you can put it anywhere in the house... it will connect to your router.

if anyone plays ps3 games in the house, there is another bonus. i have a ps3 but don't play any games on it.

you really should get a HDTV even a smallish one.

i just finished watching all of "24" (season one) in about 10 days. i hated the show and couldn't wait for it to end, however. it is just a ridiculous show, the gov't can do the impossible at times but just so the gov't is challenged and for drama, the gov't also can't do basic tasks. it gets old very fast. oh and knowing no matter what the main characters encounter, they will survive gets old too (especially when they are repeatedly caught by the enemy... since i know main characters will live and will escape the enemy, it actually makes that part of the show worth skipping, just skip to when they have escaped).

I remember the mom and pop places that opened up, but I never had to pay any membership fees. One of the first movies I ever watched on VHS was The World According to Garp. This was around 1982.

I watch movies on Netflix via PS3 and iphone when riding the bus to work.

I still buy Blu Rays/DVD's of movies I really like or that are not readily available on Netflix.

Remember VHS tapes of movies cost about $80.00?
