Hang is in Saigon now. She came back last week. She should be back to Hanoi in a few more weeks for the 1000 years Thang Long celebrations. There is going to be a parking in Hanoi with all the traffic :) I heard it's already started...

Exactly what Thuy said... She said there are alot more people on the road and hotels are filling up already.. They have done alot of work preparing for it, running new electric lines underground and new phone lines... She said the flights are all filling up fast to go to HaNoi from the south.. The remaining tickets are getting more and more expensive each day.. Jetstart is doing a special.. 1000 seats for 100.000 VND Thuy was not able to get a cheap ticket for this trip..

Wow, when exactly is this celebration? I will be in Hanoi from Mid October until 2nd week of November. My wife will be taking her son to Saigon for his interview at the end of October. Maybe her mother should be booking her flights now due to the celebration.

I am happy for Hanoi, but the traffic is way too heavy to begin with. I am starting to worry now.

The festivities will start at the begining of October to around mid-month..you should see some of it, maybe the traffic will be not as congested by then...
