My GC says it will expire in two years, so i guess it's temporary. I've heard people talk about a 10-year GC.. when do you get one?? Is there a particular number of months, before your temporary one expires, that you need to start to worry about the new one??...How do you get it? Are there any more documents to be filled-out?? Any fees to be paid?? Do they need proofs of the relationship?? (I was on a K-1 visa).... I really don't have any definite info about this. :bonk: And I sure would like to be prepared.. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks :help::)

there is a fee, there is an interview, you need evidence just like before. Please read the guides. You need to start collecting evidence NOW.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

You may have to go for interview. But it seems if you send enough evidence, you get approved without interview. Happens to most people anyways.

Now that you have a GC, go to your local SSA office to update your status and get a new SS card - without the DHS authorization wording on it -- it will make your life easier. If you haven't had a SSN before, get one now.

Mark your calendar for 90 days before the expiration date of the GC and start compiling paperwork for removal of conditions - a paper box on the side should be enough - drop in there every possible document that comes your way - doctor bills, utilities bills, postcards/greeting cards from friends/family, notices from work, copies of insurance cards...
