We have been celebrating all weekend! Olivia, kinda surreal feeling, huh? Today we are throwing away the huge xray thats been in the closet forever...lol.

Olivia ~ Congrats on the greencard, that is so great , and I'm sure a big relief as well that you are done with immigration for awhile.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

When Mohamed and I would talk online many times he would tell me he had Shawarma for dinner, so last time I was here he introduced me to it and I loved it!!! So now, he is taking me all over to try Shawarma from many different places lol, so last night was Shawarma #3, then we went shopping at City Stars mall. OMG I couldn't believe how big this mall was, I was like a kid in a candy shop. Then we went to see Inception at the cinema there. The movie was ok, but half way through the movie they stopped it and everyone was getting up, and I was like "What the heck is going on." lol He said its a break during the movie, like intermission during a concert or sporting event haha.

Good morning! Happy Sunday to all.

Mandy, first time I went to the movies in Alexandria I also was surprised when the "intermission"

came on. Wael said it was for people to have a cigarette!! Can you imagine having that here!

I loved Cairo's malls. They are beautiful! Glad you are having a good time!

Mandy does sound like she's having and awesome time! I remember that first intermission experience at a theater in Egypt. We went to the new big fancy one on the Nile in Cairo and we watched Deja Vu. I had the same reaction as Mandy did the first time.

I also really like having a break because sometimes I can't make it all the way through the movie here before I have to go potty from drinking their super huge sodas!

With the way our interview went our celebratory feelings were sort of robbed from us until we got home and got the email. Then we had about an afternoon of feeling good but didn't feel so much like celebrating. He was being a little cocky and playful saying, "I told you so. Let me do the driving. It was just a matter of time." I did make koshary and then vegetarian mo:mo's last night as our sort of celebration dinners. Once dh gets his GC in hand then it's count down to Naturalization! I have to admit after hearing the news that we're getting the 10 year green card I feel released from being obligated to come check VJ. It's feels like we've graduated immigration for the most part and can finally get on with our life together here. I'm adjusting to him being here for the next 10 years at least. He's also being uber loving lately which is sweet.

I wanted to go to a festival in the park this weekend but he's being all business and wanting to get back to the routine as usual with studying for the USMLE's. He's going to see his Sister in October and since she's a licensed MD in the states now he admitted he feels some pressure to show her his progress when he goes for the visit. He tells me she is already in some talks about doing her first year residency in Maryland. An official offer hasn't been made it's more like those with the power to hire have asked if she passed her last exam would she consider her first year residency with them next year. He's getting ready to take his first exam, one of the USMLE steps, this Dec. His sister got these unbelievably high marks on all her exams like 98% then 96% and 97% and one is just pass or fail. So he feels like he has to live up to that. At the same time he's reminded she's been a doctor 6 years longer, she's been a medical lecturer at the University in Egypt for several years in the basics so this is second hand knowledge to her where it's effort for him to go back and review the basics from 10 years ago. Then there is the unspoken cultural stuff about her being female and him being male, and how it would look if he didn't do as well or better than her. Part of me wonders if his feelings about this is what has put him off for so long preparing for these exams seriously. Though I am very thankful for his Sister and BIL's being here in the states and mentoring of him in this licensing process. His BIL is studying and taking the steps with dh at the same time so they are working together and I think that's helpful as well.

I think in your situation with the second interview and going through the immigration process twice now and everything that you've been through that it could probably be really surreal for you both. It sounds like you both are celebrating justly and you deserve all the happiness coming to you Jax. You have me wondering about that huge x-ray in the closet you're tossing now.
