question on validity date of I-797

I recently got the I-797 back approved for fiance visa after applying again. On the form it says "Approval Notice Valid from 8/26/10 to 12/26/10" I'm concerned on what to do if she hasn't gone to the interview before 12/26/10. I know from prior experience that if she fails again then USCIS uses the passing of the validity dates as a reason for making you refile and start over. Is there anything that can be done to extend it if she hasn't gone to an interview yet? I called USCIS today and spoke to an immigration officer and asked about this and they said "don't worry" after I told her I had been through this before she had no answer as to it being extended or what to do. Very disappointed in that answer.

not an issue unless you reallydrag your feet responding to pkt 3...ours expired in Jan.... petition is still valid as of today... they usually extend automatically as long as needed...
