I sent in our I-129F Form and finally recieved our receipt number!(I-797C)

Well i just check my status and supposedly its in a initial review..

How long does it take for them to make a decision? and after they do make a

decision whats next? what do i prepare for?

General processing time falls within a five month span, it could take less five months and it could also take more, really there's no way to be certain.

did any of my friend pay a premium fee? they said by oct 28 we should hear something.. we did not use an atty as I only received an advisement from one. (submitted I129f 05-26-10 NOA1 05-28-10 (no NOA2).

Premium fee? Who said by Oct 28th you should hear something? Unfortunately until you've gone out of normal processing time nothing can be done (and lawyers will not speed up the process). Just give it some time, I'm sure you'll hear something soon. :yes:

There is no such thing as a "premium fee." Whoever says there is, and is willing to accept it, is trying to steal your money. Saying you will hear something by Oct 28 is simply stating the USCIS processing guideline of 5 months.

If you received your NOA1 on 5-28-10, you are within the window (my NOA2 took 125 days). After 5 months, you can inquire with USCIS as to why it is taking so long..

N-400

Feb. 12, 2016 - Sent N-400 to USCIS (3-year rule)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Mar. 14, 2016 - Biometrics

June 2, 2016 - Interview - Recommended for Approval

The processing goal is 5 months, but as you can see in many members' timelines, it can take less. For some, an average of 3 months. Of course, there are the SUPER speedy cases we all envy (approvals in less than a month!). Also there are those unfortunate ones that do not even get approved within the 5 months... So, the uncertainty of it all is what makes many of us go kind of :wacko:

Find some patience and money, you will need plenty of both!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.
