I was curious how various people packaged and bound their documents for submittal. Did you staple, paper clip, binder clip, three ring binder, ect...?

I doubt people stapled any important official documents, but I listed it as an example anyways.

The USCIS recommends that papers be bound with ACCO Fasteners, with two holes punched at the top of the pages (as opposed to the sides) and divider tabs on the bottom. But you can paper clip it or put it in a folder, or just leave it loose, they just ask that you make it easy for them to disassemble so no binders or anything.

We just left it loose and placed it in a large zip-lock bag since stationary stores are hard to find here.

They do not like staples. Anythingbeyond paper clips and a binder clip on the whole thing is nothing but window dressing. Upon arrival your package is dissected and put into their folder. Whatever you do will be taken apart and end up in the recycle bin. Your package will look like everyone else's shortlay after arrival. Just make sure it is all in the envelope.

I tried to make my packet orderly, so that information that belonged together was kept together. For instance, all of my passport pages were held together by a thick and wide clip. Also, I used a paper clip to hold the biographical sheet and the passport picture together. It probably is true that the packet will be disassembled anyhow, but it is nice to think that nice, clean, and orderly makes a difference (which of course, it very well might not).

I used a 2-prong ACCO fastener at the top, and used tabs at the bottom of the pages to divide the content into sections. I posted a photo of my petition before, in this thread:

i stapled the forms that were multi-paged together. i did this because i clipped them all, but the guy at the embassy went and stapled it all and made a big mess anyway.

it doesn't really matter if you staple or clip. they will take out staples, they have staple removers, if they need to. and you don't have to do the hole punches, cuse they do that.

just make sure it's well organized and put those little label flags on it and you're gold!

You shouldn't even staple the multipage documents. Just concerned that related pages get out of order or misfiled.
