Ok, here it is. I got population share data from http://www.census.gov/popest/states/states.html. I used estimated 2009 data. I then divided GDP share by population state. Values over 1 mean a state has a higher share of GDP than it does of population. Values less than 1 mean the opposite. Higher values are "better". Measured this way, California doesn't do too well. It's near the bottom.

Mississippi 1.48

West Virginia 1.36

Arkansas 1.36

Idaho 1.35

Cali has over 11 million living in poverty and we all know how low the income threshold is to be considered in poverty in the US. Unfortunately I heard this from the governor, so Rob may consider this anecdotal or made up.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

You heard it from the Governor. That means you have a source, even though it is a secondary source and not a primary one.

This is as opposed to you seeing a group of Messikans working on the side of the road and concluding they are illegals. For that conclusion, you have no source at all.

Something has to be wrong here, considering Mississippi is the poorest state in the Union.

Mississippi:

Median Household Income: $31,330

Median Value of Owner-Occupied Housing Units: $71,400

New Jersey:

Median Household Income: $55,146

Median Value of Owner-Occupied Housing Units: $170,800

Make your point. Don't be coy.

I am sure when they taught you how to write a paper in high school, they taught you that not all sources are equal.

I learned in high school that wikipedia is not a reliable source and it will never be accepted as a source for a paper. You can use wikipedia to find other reliable sources. Sometimes there is reliable sources on the related links at the bottom of the page.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.
