BY - wow ! how quickly your thread denigrates into a collection of personal attacks against you.

I was hoping to read more of your opinion about any 'infrastructure bank',

but you seem to be drowning in some noise?

I noticed the civil engineers of America feel that there is $2.2 trillion worth of projects backlogged to get the infrastructure back on track, I'd definitely believe it. Yeah it's a start but realistically, $50 billion barely pays for a single state's infrastructure needs. Most of it will also be spent on patchwork rather than propelling America into the 21st century.

When you see Australia investing $43 billion on creating a utility equivalent high-speed wholesale FTTH network, while China is investing $300 billion to build their 16,000 mile next-gen high-speed rail network, you know our priorities here are in the wrong place. Such grand projects not only put their country at the forefront of technology but also will provide years of benefits for the citizens of the country. And the much needed jobs required to stimulate their economy. It's a win win for all really.

Australia's Federal BB initiative is also interesting because the project is a joint venture between the federal government and private sector. It will be owned by the government, built by the private sector and will truly allow competition to flourish. Any company, will be able to sell high-speed service using it, rather than just one cable company and a incumbent Telco. Such a network is an investment for 30 plus years and will generate thousands of jobs for the national install.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

BooYah - at this stage, it's being labelled as a 'bank' -

with 'loans' to be let out.

IMO, that 50 billion 'at the bank' could be re-used, several times over, and quickly, as those 'final clients' pay the construction companies' invoices, said construction companies in turn repay the bank notes.

If a 6 month turn over - hey ! that's 200 billion in circulation over a 2 year period !!

What are your thoughts?
