My husband is applying for permanent residency via marriage (I am an American Citizen). He now has his EAD and is applying for a job. He indicated on the application that he has his green card. Now, the company he applied to is asking him to do an e-verify to check on his immigration status.

My question is: does e-verify reveal whether one has a EAD or not, or does it only tell the company if the applicant is a citizen, permanent resident, or non-resident? I'm hoping they will see that he has his EAD and will be ok with that because we are just a couple of weeks away from our interview and are confident we will get the green card. He really wants this job and hopes the company will let him apply even though he isn't officially a permanent resident yet.

Thanks in advance for any info on e-verify.

EAD plus SSN will work as EAD is issued by DHS so he is authorized to work. If you want, google e-verify manual (should come up as a USCIS.gov web page) and go through it - all public knowledge and you can get better acquainted with what it is, how it's used...).

He probably didn't indicate on a job application that he "had a green card".

The question is usually phrased "are you legally authorized to work in the United States" or in rare instances "are you an American Citizen".

At any rate, EAD is legal authorization to work. You don't need the actual green card to be hired. He will also need a Social Security card. The SS card will likely be stamped with the wording "Valid for Work Only with DHS authorization". That authorization is the EAD.

Reading about E-Verify is a good idea. The manual gives information about dealing with false hits.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
