Looking to book air travel to Thailand soon. Any recommendations on travel agents. I have looked at a number of discount ticket sites, but sometimes there are agents or airlines that have even better deals. Any suggestions? Flight would be from Charlotte, NC to Bangkok, no preference on airlines or stops, prefer around 24-26 hour total travel time.

Thanks for any tips!

I fly every month and have used Emirates and a flight leaves every day from Houston and varies from $1200 to $1500. Also fly Singapore Air for about $1500 to $1800 round trip. Emirates fly to to Dubai and then to BKK, Singapore Air flies to Singapore and then to BKK. Both have about a 22-24 hr time. Hope this helps but it is what I do.

I have never seen an agent beat an internet deal, and I wouldn't expect them to. If you look hard enough, you'll find the best price on the internet. Sometimes it's a aggregator like Kayak.com or orbitz (to name a few). Other times, the best deal may be found on an airline's website.

I've used priceline.com but sidestep.com probably has more options.

It's been getting hard recently (my wife's last trip was a last-minute purchase in high season).

I agree with you. The reason I use the airline websites is more flexibility if something was to go wrong. I prefer dealing with airline directly as you seem to get better service if unexpected events arise. Also the price difference is very small when it all boils down to purchase.

Those are the two most typical transfer points when flying west to Thailand. There are no non-stops from Thailand to the US, other than Thai Airways which flies non-stop only to LAX, and Thai Airways is insanely expensive.

If you use the airline's website they will often have some sort of promotions from major cities such as LA or NY. I found some really good deals on China Airlines from LA and also with Eva. I use Vayama or Kayak, and Orbitz of course, if I can't find what I like as far as promotions are concerned on the airlines websites.
