What VISA are you applying bobby?

CR K or B1/B2??

Well, I am doing CR-1 visa for my wife.

But to occupy my time I have been posting general questions and comments/answers in other forums - including the K1 forum and the Tourist Visa forum. These are two visa types I was considering in the beginning of the process.

For B1/B2, visa applicant can provide their employment letter if any, properties in their country etc. to show the tie up and to prove the temporary intent.

The below are the list if the applicant is from India.

1. Applicant's Passport (take photocopy of all valid pages of your passport)

2. Appointment letter provided by VFS

3. CEAC Confirmation page that has barcode and your photo

4. Visa fee receipt issued by HDFC Bank

5. One recent passport size photograph 50mm X 50mm (2" x 2") with a white or off-white background (carry few extra photos)

6. Documents from the sponsor

a. Invitation letter from the sponsor

b. Notarized Affidavit of Support form I-134

c. Original Employment Letter

d. Copy of current salary statements

e. Copy of my Bank statement

g. Copy of my U.S passport or U.S Naturalization certificate

i. Copy of marriage certificate if applicable

You can not sponsor a visitor visa.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Better if that is the visitor.

I will explain my question in a different way.

Let's say that my mother lives in India - but she lost all her documents during the partition in 1947. One day my mother decides that she wants to visit me in the USA, perhaps I am having a baby or I am graduating or am sick or whatever.

So my mother decides to apply for a visitor visa and asks me what she needs to do. Without considering anything else, what Civil Documents must my mother have in her possession in order to apply for the visitor visa.

My question is only about Civil Documents, not about photographs or fee receipts or anything else.

In general what Civil Documents would they require the visitor visa applicant to provide.

She doesn't need any civil documents other than her valid passport.

I have sponsored at least 7 persons so far in B1/B2 visa.
