I don't even like that. If they moved from Africa then they are African-American. If they were born in the USA they are just 'Americans'.

The African-American moniker should also include white people from Africa (e.g. white South Africans).

So then do we wipe out all mention of our non-American heritage?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I never understood this "25% Irish, 10% French, 15% Norwegian, 17% Polish, 5% Russian" nonsense.

Good to see that as crabby as I am today, I'm apparently not alone in that.

Peter Miami, one thing to think about Muslims. "Going back" to their country may not be a viable option...as the US -is- their country. Just because the Christian religion is largely represented and in many cases the 'loudest', it doesn't mean that other religions don't exist.

Read my post above. I am Catholic and I can tell you they have done and they are still doing a lot of things that they should not and that the “Inquisition” where total wrong. And killing all the Indian in South and Central American because they would not convert to Catholicism was wrong! And killing all the people around the world in name of religion was wrong!

And religion is great for the believers, what ever religion they want to practice “But do not force others to do as your religion wants”!

And the reason I was saying for Muslims to go back to their country is because if they hate our western ways for them to leave. If they accept them it is fine. Just do not force your religion upon us. This is my problem!

So they would not being going back to their country... they would be immigrating to a country that more suits them ;)

Fair enough. But what about when you are explicitly asked about your heritage, and you are not "white". Should you refuse to answer?

This is exactly my point. For some people, I say I'm white, they accept that. For others, I say I'm white, I'm trying to "front". You can't please everyone...

Thank you for saying that

I have no beef with anyone that wants to practice 'whatever' religion they do. I agree that a lot of cr@p goes on in the name of religion where it really shouldn't. I completely agree with not forcing others to live by your own standards, religious or otherwise.

I was just pointing out that telling "Muslims" to "go back to where they come from" may not take them off the North American continent. A Muslim isn't a nationality. There are plenty of American citizens who are of the Muslim faith.

And the reason I was saying for Muslims to go back to their country is because if they hate our western ways for them to leave. If they accept them it is fine. Just do not force your religion upon us. This is my problem!

Yes, but the way you initially phrased it, it came across as a generalization. I hope you don't really think that ALL Muslims hate the western ways, just like I'd hope you don't think that ALL who claim to be Christian are really acting like Christ would have.

From this clarification I get your point. You aren't generalizing. :)

*soapbox*

Incidentally, I think that if someone doesn't like that state of affairs where they live, they should either leave or work to make it better. Sitting around whining about it does nothing. And that is independent of race, creed, color or religion. Pee or get off the pot!

Thanks you,

When I have ever called for you or anyone else to be killed because you're not muslim?

When I have I ever said anything about forcing my religion on you?

I don't care what you're religion is.... I certainly don't call you a terrorist because your church has been guilty of killing indiscrimantly in the past.

I do not condone killing innocent people and have stated that loudly here in the past yet you still indicated that I may "go terrorist" on you!

Honestly, I don't care to enlighten you or even have knowledge that I share the planet with you at this time but here goes...

Why are there so many terrorists in the world today? Is it because people have some great awareness about their religion in this age? Absolutely not. It was reported that the 9/11 hijakers were out partying the night before the attacks, drinking and watching naked women dance... as a muslim I can say to you that is not typical behavior of one who claims to be following this religion anymore than blowing up planes/cars/buildings/markets or any other area in which innocent people are but yet they are labeled as "Islamic Jihadists". That is #######! They were most likely ticked off about western/American policy and committed those acts of terror in response to that. Doesn't make it right, I agree but also doesn't make them on some big mission for Islam either.

The number of insurgents in Iraq has dramatically increased since the US invasion. Yet another US personel has been found guility of mistreatment of an innocent Iraqi while there "trying to get information" in NC this week.

Read For God and Country by James Yee when you have some free time.

One of the would-be UK bombers was illegal detained and mistreated by western forces while visiting Pakistan (according to BBC this morning).

Most of the suicide bombers in Palistine have suffered enormous losses and grief at the hands of zionist terrorists for many years.

The Pakistani woman arrested this week and held for suspected explosives... turns out it was just water. Would a white, christian, upper-class man have been held for so long? Why not? There are no white, non-muslim terrorists?

The little group that was busted down in FL recently... it was all over the news about their "jihad".... there weren't muslims or Arabs but that didn't stop the press from throwing an Arabic word into the mix to instill fear of Arabs/muslims in the hearts of their readers.

If you can't see that oppression, discrimination and ignorance (from all parties involved) are the root causes of terrorism then you are blind.

The root cause of terrorism is military imbalances. Terrorism is a tactic of war. The tactic is used when you are significantly less 'equipped' than your enemy. Terrorism is a tactic of assymetrical warfare.

Even conventional militaries use terror when the balance tilts too much in favor of the enemy.

Oppression, discrimination and ignorance may perhaps be some of the many causes of war itself. But the only cause of terrorism (a tactic of war) is when you're not strong enough to take the enemy on conventionally.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
