The USCIS is giving you that date to cover their backs in case it does back up significantly. Now, keep in mind that the only way you will get processed for a K3 visa is only if the NVC receives your approved I-129F first, which rarely happens anymore. They usually get the I-130 first, or both at the same time, if that's the case, then you will automatically be processed for a CR1/IR1 visa.

view that date as a threshold on a bell curve -

and note things 'happen' for items before, in, and after that threshold.

*** not a DCF question, moving to 'USCIS Service Centers' forum ***

The date they quote you is typically the "oldest" case being processed. As Darnell says, some small number of cases are even older than that, but the lion's share of the cases older than that date are complete.

I have heard and been told the same thing that they were working on applications received the week of March 16 (last week) for my K3 Spouse Application. My I130 weas received April 7 and they told me that even though they say they have a goal of 5 months, that they dont consider it late or escalate-able until it is +16 days from the 5 month mark.

Yup, it does seem that way.

There's been lots of speculation and commentary about the 'place in queue' -

with a majority opinion being -

The I-130 is pushed backwards in the queue, to be at the same 'queue place' as the I-129F.

When studying the timelines here, and making comparisons, it seems to add in anywhere from 2 to 11 weeks of additional time at USCIS.

IMO, the 'major suckage' part comes about at NVC, as the I-129F is administratively closed.

So what really happened?

Any K-3 hopeful, submitting into USCIS after 1 FEB 2010, manually adds in time on something that's mostly unattainable.

If yer a K-3 hopeful, and were hoping for derivative K-4 visas for any children-

wei -

file an I-130 on each child, soonish, and use an expedite process on each new I-130.

Just from a "I like to look at charts" perspective (going for trends, here), is the above truly borne out? If I look at the chart for Igor's list, for example, with I-130 approvals for the K-3 vs. the IR-1/CR-1 visa, it seems like approvals for March NOA1s are just wrapping up and April is just starting to ramp up - for BOTH types.

Nik - to 'make it meaningful' for ya, I suggest you study a 'full 12 months' of data - so 'go back a bit' and make a dataset .

Anyone have news of progress on CA Service Center requests? I could not call back because it feels like each time I ask, they expand the window of their response.

Feeling too discouraged to keep calling, and almost afraid to think it is my asking thats causing things to slow.

I saw another request out of TX Service Center that was filed and in June and processed already.
