How many months of paystubs are need for the I-864

How many months of paystubs do I need to submit with the petition and how many does my co-sponsor need? Thank you for any responses.

When I did the cosponsor thing....I needed my last tax return. The person who cosponsered didn't have a tax a return and gave EVERY check she received from the year prior. I'm assuming if that is not available send a couple from the end of the year that give their gross amount of wages during the year. I was given proof that my cosponsor owns a house AND an appraisal of the value of the house currently. Hope this helps.

I have tax transcripts and so does my co-sponsor, but I thought I read in a thread somewhere that you still need to supply at least 6 months of paystubs. Is this true?

We didn't send any with ours, just the previous year's tax return. Having said that, we did take a couple of them to the interview with us (no co-sponsor, so just my hubby's). The IO did not even look at them.

I didn't send any payslips, but I'm pretty sure they asked for last year's W-2s as well as the tax return. Since I'm the beneficiary (and the one with the job) I included a letter from my employer in the US saying how long I had been working for the company and what my annual salary was.

Six months seems to be what they are looking at - most recent, back.

I would also suggest you send the IRS tax transcripts for the most recent tax year in addition to the pay stubs.

Your correct - however - the 864 instructions state:

You may include evidence supporting your claim about your expected income for the current year if you believe that submitting this evidence will help you establish ability to maintain sufficient income. You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to do so by a Government official. For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer's address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stub(s) showing your income for the previous six months.

This. We didn't think we'd need it, but we submitted 6 months worth (and the hubby gets paid weekly so it was a lot!)

Anything that could help improve our case - we did!
