Friend who australian got married to american citizen on a waiver exempt program. They did not know each other before the visist and they ended up getting married. I told him he should of got engaged and filed for and a k1, but the past is the past. Can he adjust his status with that kind of a visa. I have heard mixed reviews

Short answer: yes.

Longer answer: Visa Waiver Program cannot appeal any decision made by USCIS, which gets further complicated if the person overstayed their allotted time... did they?
