Is it just me, or is this kind of overwhelming?

So, I downloaded all the forms and guides this morning, and now I'm in panic mode (again?!? yeah...)

This is A LOT to do! I never thought it'd be this complicated, I guess I was being naive. Am I the only one who has had a panic attack looking at everything that needs to be done for the AOS!?! I'm getting married tomorrow, and now I feel like I'm gonna lose it instead of being happy and excited about tomorrow...

At least it's comforting to browse through the AOSers topic and see that people are going through it and staying sane!

Be ready for a flood of retarded questions coming from me in the next month or so!

:bonk:

I found the AOS a lot less stressful than the K1 part.

Congrats and good luck

The AOS was really the easiest part of the process. Set it aside and enjoy your wedding day. When you come back to it, sit down and highlight all the action items on the instructions. That will reduce it to something manageable. When you have completed each action item, cross it off. Once you have sent off your AOS, print off the Removal of Conditions instructions and highlight all those action items. You need to start collecting evidence from this point forward so it helps to be aware of the requirements.

Congratulations on your wedding!

I had a little panic attack too, but the AOS process really isn't that bad. At first, it does seem like K1 all over again, but the paperwork isn't nearly as complicated and by now we are total pros at all of this!

My husband keeps reminding me to sit down and reflect on how far we've come. At least now we are with our partners, enjoying our new homes.

Have a wonderful wedding! I was really emotional at my civil ceremony. Beforehand, I referred to it as a 'formality', but on that day I really felt like a bride marrying the love of my life.

AOS

POE @ Toronto Pearson - 08/12/10

Civil Ceremony - 08/27/10

Applied for SSN in married name - 09/06/10 (I was told it will take 4 weeks to get the background check cleared and an additional 2 weeks to receive my card)

AOS/EAD/AP sent with FedEx - 09/25/10

E-Notice From Chicago - 10/05/10

I-797C, NOA1 Received - 10/08/10

SSN card received (FINALLY!)- 10/23/10

Biometrics appointment - 10/28/10

EAD Approved - 11/19/10 (USCIS Website Notice)

AP Approved & Received - 11/22/10

EAD Received- 11/23/10

Interview - 02/07/11 APPROVED!

I am now a U.S. Permanent Resident!!

I thought the AOS process was a lot easier than K-1 for me. I used mostly these 2 links:

Exemple forms: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

Canadian topic about AOS with veryyyy useful info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/259053-aos-question-portal/page__pid__3977788#entry3977788

For the 6 passport pictures, i went to FedEx, i had a set of 2 passport pics full price, and then they just made 4 other copies of it, which is way cheaper than buying 3 sets of 2.

These 2 links should definitly help you. I filed my AOS in 2 days maximum, it was very fast! The longest part was actually printing and making copies of everything

01/12/2011: GreenCard approved!!!!

Green card expiration date: 01/05/2013
Sent ROC package to VSC: 11/16/2012
NOA1: 11/20/2012

Approval: 04/29/2013!!!!

I have to be honest... other than the fact that K-1 was like a 3 step process, and AOS isn't mostly... I didn't find AOS any easier than K-1. Maybe it was just all the B.S. that we had to go through in our particular situation (I won't bother with the details again). We had a lot of extra headaches to go through, and we didn't even have an interview. lol But I got my green card about 5 months after sending it in, so I guess it's not that bad.

I dunno... either way, don't worry about it until after the wedding. And good luck!

I feel calmer now, I just looked at everything briefly and was freaking out -nothing abnormal in my case!

Thanks for the wishes everyone, I've got butterflies now that I've calm down, I can't believe tomorrow is the day we've been waiting for for so long!
