Well from Californa, home to the worlds 5th (or 6th depending on your source) largest economy in the world, suck it, and you better say thank you for it.

I personally don't understand why economical, social, and technological development of a country has to = people being less religious. I find it insulting if people think members of a society have to stop thinking their faith is important to them just because they don't live in a poor country. I am happy the US is an exception.

Because if your life is good, why do you need God?

Why should every developed country fit into a mold?

Molds aren't all bad. Every child with a high school education should know how to read and write and add and subtract. That's a mold they should fit in to. This mold is similarly desirable and evidence of overall progress.

Maybe the real point people wish to make is that non-religious folks are just better than religious folks, and that's why every developed country should be less religious. A sign of "progress" perhaps to forget about spiritual things.

Another good indicator of progress is the frequency of orgies.

That's the mistake people make. ;)

What's the mistake? Numerous studies have shown that people tend to turn to God

at a time of personal emotional or physical pain - when they feel they are not in

control of their circumstances, whereas people who are actively and confidently

directing their own lives are less likely to worship.

As are people who are sh_t faced, ....not sure we can chalk this phenomena up to progress though.

It's easy to forget about God when things are going good in life. And in my opinion that's not a good thing. I hope I always remember God no matter how good my life is and I hope the same for the others who believe in Him. I know I sound all spiritual at the moment but I don't care, I wanted to say it and I don't that often.
