:help:

I am a little worried about the DAS Certificate.. My Fiancee went to DAS, she's received most of the Documents, but the DAS Certificate well take about 8 Days and will arrive in the mail.

The mail hasn't shown to be all that reliable, so far we've never received the packet 3 or packet 4, so I am concerned..

Our interview is on a thursday on 7 Oct. We will arrive in Bogota on the Sunday before. We plan to do our labs on Monday and the Medical on Tuesday.. If all else fails, and we never receive the DAS Certificate, can we go to DAS in Bogota and get it the same day? If so, we can easily fit this into our plans for Monday... Should we pre-arrange anything to be sure we get it?

This part has me really nervous.. So if anyone has some experience and can reassure me, I'd appreciate it...

Thanks in advance.

Kenny,

Which DAS certificate are you writing about? The police certificate should be available for her to print online. And the Migratory Movement certificate or Carta Migratoria should be available for her to pick up in Bogotá. I have never heard of them mailing this to anyone, unless she misunderstood and they said it will be available for her to pick up at their office. Tell her to go back and ask if she can pick it up there or if it will be ready in Bogotá, that way you can take care of it a few days before the interview.

Hi Diana

It was the Carta Migratoria... She explained it was quiet stressful visit at DAS.. they questionen her pretty heavily and seemed to not believe her identity.

So, are you saying we can go to DAS in Bogota abd pick it up on a walk-in basis? of do we need to do something in advance so they can have it ready,,,

Sorry to interrupt, but the embassy will accept a police certificate printed off of the internet? It doesn't need to be officially stamped, signed or sealed in any way?

Yes, the Carta Migratoria can be picked up at the DAS in Bogotá; in fact, that's how most people do it. She needs to let the DAS in her city know that she wants to pick it up there so they know.

Yes, it's available online now. It used to be in the form of a little green book but that's no longer the case. The beneficiary needs to pay for the process, they will then get a PIN number that will let them print it online any time during one year.

Thanks, Diana.. I'm glad to know she can get it online and will certainly tell her when she gets home tonight.

And, after seeing the hassles that so many are going through, I am very thankful that my finacee lives in Bogotá! It seems 10X as difficult or, at the very least, compressed into the few days before the interview for those who live in other places.

Best of luck Kenny! She'll have it on time one way or another.

hi Kennyn,

she can get her Migratory certificate at home, the DAS does that and is only given to her no one else. I think is more comfortable get it at home than go to Bogota, this option is good only when as you say you have trouble getting faster. Does she ask for it? You don´t need to wait until October to get the certificate, you can do it now, the certificate is valid for three months to be submitted at the embassy

the delivery takes one week. That was my experience I got it in 6 days at home.

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Kenny,

As yakad said, that's another option your fiancée will have. If you want you can do as she just indicated, she's pretty knowledgeable when it comes to paperwork and documents needed for the interview in Bogotá.

Yakad and Mononoke28, you guys have been soo helpful..

Thanks for the information.. You just don't know how nice it is to have your reassurance..

My Fiancee has already been to DAS and they told her about 8 Days.. How will it be delivered? Normal Mail Service? Does she need to be there to receive it, or is it ok for her aunt to be there to receive it?

In my case, when I asked for that certificate they gave me a form and this one has the option to fill out with the name of the person who will receive it, and is this person who must sign and receive it

the service used is a courier, Interrapidisimo (in my days  )

I am applying for my wife a Colombian citizen for IR1/CR1 visa and my step son. Is the DAS certificate needed at the NVC level before an interview date will be scheduled in Bogota? Just need clarification as I am currently in US and unsure if she needs to send the DAS certificate to me to provide to the NVC as her agent.
