Make up and cosmetics - help needed

Hi fellow ukers!

I need help! I miss the likes of Boots and Superdrug to find a specialist place that I can find a wide range of make up and cosmetics where they have testers for foundation and eye shadow etc. Does anyone know of an equivilant in the US?

If you like Boots, a lot of Target Stores carry Boots products. After I moved back to the US from the UK, I was so excited when I saw that Target had Boots makeup, face and skin care.

Otherwise, you might try department stores, like Macy's, as they carry brands like Clinique that you can test out before you buy. It might be a little more expensive, but some claim it's higher quality.

In nebraska we have a HUGE make up specialty store called ULTA, they have tons and tons of stuff some really high end designer things and some lower end brands as well. You can order some things off the website but not everything they have is allowed to be sold on the website.

Sephora lets you try everything.

Try Sephora! They have a TON of different product brands as well as their own line. Some of their stuff can get a bit pricey but not all of it. They also sell perfume, beauty tools and other skin and hair care products. I looooooooove Sephora.

Ulta is a lot like Sephora, but they have lower-end products as well as the pricier brands. They also have a Redken salon in the stores here in OKC. They have people who will help you try out different color palettes and find what works for you. You can ALWAYS find coupons online for them, and their sale flyer has great discounts every month.

I shop at both, but for little stuff like my scrubs, I go to Ulta. It's more convenient. I'd say it's closer to Boots than Sephora.

CVS also carry Boots products - you can get a lot of testers of other brands too

But I would recommend Sephora

Places like CVS and Walgreens usually have policies for makeup that if you buy it and then don't like the shade you can get your money back.
