I know that I need to send two letters of intent. I made two following the template from VJ exactly. Is it a bad thing that they are exactly alike other than the names changing around? Also, how essential is it that this be an original signed copy? Can I use fax or e-mailed copies? Questions questions questions! I'm so nervous! I don't want any unnecessary delay's, yet I can't get this thing mailed without knowing it's perfect. Any tips are helpful, this site is awesome!

09/21/10 - I-129F Sent!

09/23/10 - I-129F Received in Dallas, TX

09/28/10 - Text & E-mail NOA1 (It was at 12:44AM, weird) Notification that our case was transferred to VSC.

09/29/10 - Check cashed

09/30/10 - NOA-1 Hard Copy dated Sep. 27, 2010

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

03/31/11 - NOA-2!

04/05/11 - Received NOA-2 hard copy.

04/07/11 - NVC Received

04/12/11 - Case left NVC via DHL

04/14/11 - Consulate Received Hard Copy of Case

Hello

Shouldn't be an issue, I did the same thing! The main objective is to show you both intend to marry within the 90 days...

Originals with Original Signatures, for both yourself and your fiancee.. I suggest you use Blue Ink to sign so the USCIS knows it's original...

Relax!, Double check everything, include plenty of photos and eveidense of meeting in person within the last 2 years.. Double Check everything... ohhh and remember to double check everything!!

You need original signatures. And yes, I agree with signing it in a blue pen. Thats what we did. But I made an original letter of intent. :)

Is the "original signature" thing really such a big issue now? I remeber reading on the USCIS site that notarized copies are no longer necessary, regular photocpies are fine. Seems to me that this would apply to this situation, too. Not sure, just asking.

I've read many that they were asked to send an original document..like this one. But if you feel free to know if its ok or not, then you can send a copy and cross your fingers that itll get through..If it will, then good for you! As for me, I didnt risk it. :)

I sent the same letter just with the names switched around. We each signed our letters and sent the originals. In this case, I think originals are a good idea.

You can send photocopies of evidentiary documents, like divorce decrees, birth certificates, passports, etc. You CAN'T send photocopies of any document that must be signed by either the petitioner or beneficiary; I-129F, G-325A, letters of intent, etc. "Original signature" means it can't be a photocopy or other image of the signature. It doesn't matter if the rest of the form is a photocopy - as long as the signature is original.

I'm not aware that there was ever a requirement for the letter of intent to be notarized. The actual contents of the letter are not critically important. Many people have used the VJ template letter without any problems. As long as it states your intention to marry and contains your signature, it should be fine.

It is a good policy in this process to go above and beyond to do exactly as shown in the guides.. If you do, there is an excellent chance you'll sail through the entire process smoothly.. This is no time to try to pave new paths, I would simply make extra extra sure you follow the guides closely and consider the guidance from the veteran VJ'rs offered here on these forums...

You can send copies of Birth Certificate and Passports, but all of the USCIS Forms need to have original signatures.. that's the key diference.. Make plenty of extra copies of the unsigned forms and sign each one with blue ink.. I sent an extra "original" of everything with my original submission and kept a few extra copies incase anything came up later.. You will also want to have a copy with you for the interview...

Don't take any chances with this process.. Just some good advise.. :)

My fiance scanned his letter of intent and emailed it to me. He'd signed it in blue ink. We printed the scanned copy and sent it in. No problems, no RFE's. I was trying to send in everything as quickly as possible and didn't have time to wait for him to mail one from the UK. I also used my photo printer to print high-quality digital copies of his passport photos onto photo paper (the good Kodak kind, glossy) and used those to keep from having to have him mail more over. They worked fine, but I highly recommend them getting digital copies on a cd from the photographer who does their passport photos instead of scanning them in. They're too distorted if you scan them.

Good luck!
