Minor (unmarried 20 years old and below) nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to appear with at least one parent for the interview. If the minor is an orphan or if both parents are outside of the Philippines, then a legal guardian must be present during the interview.

This is on the US Embassy/ Manila web site. My fiancee, Jessa, is 20 yrs old. Am I reading this right or am I just not? Does she have to be accompanied by her parent or legal guardian? She turns 21 in Dec. Any answers or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance.

Good day..yes, it is stated at the US embassy website..hmmmm...when will she have her interview??..either so, even if she will turn 21 this December and her interview will be before December,I guess it would be safe to bring one of her parent/guardian along...somehow during my interview, I met a K1 visa applicant there who was 21 and she was alone, but she looks more mature than me even if I'm a little older than her(..I don't know if she was approved or not)...so if it's possible to bring one parent/guardian with her then do so(we can't tell if how strict they are, specially when it comes to age gap..they asked me during my interview about our age gap.. )...I know it's more expensive coz she will still have her flight going to Manila(same here, I'm from the province so I definitely have to fly..hehe)..if in case, that she has closer relatives in Manila that can go with her, just tell her to secure a parental consent singed by her parent just in case they would question again about her relationship to the guardian who will be with her...just pray and with God, everything is possible!!..be blessed!!

Thank you very much for the info. Yes, she has an aunt that lives in Manila, her father's sister actually. She will be staying with her while she is there. Thanks again

When I called the embassy last night to setup Jessa's interview, I asked if she had to be accompanied by her parent or legal guardian. They said no.
