Why, oh, why didn't the Bills pick up Vick when they had the chance. Bills get to play the Ravens, oh joy! Marshawn Lynch got out of Dodge in a big hurry, the Bills got peanuts (4th round pick and a conditional 5th or 6th round pick) for a premier running back. Lynch wanted out and the Bills have already given up on this year. Yeah!!!! I optimistically predict a 2-14 year, the Bills make me want to shout.

Lynch is showing signs of promise in Seattle, he was a key factor in their win over the Bears this week. TO seems happy in Cincinnati. And Trent Edwards was surprisingly strong in Jacksonville when he stepped in after Garrard was injured last night.

I guess everyone winds up where they belong, in the end.

Meanwhile, Bills could be doing worse than Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point in the season. Would you believe that he's posting better numbers that Brett Favre (well, less yardage but 7 TDs to Favre's 6 TDs, and only 2 picks compared to 7 for Brett). I just picked up Fitzpatrick as a fantasy sub TD for Peyton Manning, who's on bye this week. So, for this week only, GO BILLS!!!

Tomlin expects Harrison to return to practice tomorrow

By Scott Brown, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Last updated: 4:16 pm

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he sent James Harrison home today so the disgruntled outside linebacker could take "a little time to cool off."

"I'm sure he'll be back in the building and ready to play football tomorrow," Tomlin said after practice today.

Harrison is frustrated and perplexed after getting fined by the NFL $75,000 Tuesday for a hit that knocked Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi out of last Sunday's game.

Harrison said Massaquoi lowered his head before the tackle, which is why it turned into a helmet to helmet hit. Harrison said during interviews on several national radio shows that he is contemplating retirement because of restrictions placed on him by NFL rules.

Tomlin said such talk is just that — talk. He implied that Harrison would have practiced today had Tomlin not sent him home.

"It bothers him that maybe he's perceived as a dirty player," said Tomlin, who still thinks that Harrison hit on Massaquoi was a legal one. "He doesn't want to be. He simply wants to play the game and play it extremely well."

When asked if Harrison will have to change his style of play, Tomlin said, "At the end of the day no. We just have to take a conscious effort in terms of safeguarding players as much as we can."

Several Steelers defensive players today voiced frustration over the rules and confusion over what is now considered a legal hit.

Said Tomlin, "It's a very emotional thing but there's no confusion."

The Harrison fine comes as the NFL is cracking down on what it perceives as head hunting with stricter enforcement of the rule that prohibits hitting a defenseless player above the shoulders.

Free safety Ryan Clark said he is not going to change his approach to the game. But, the Steelers player representative added, "You think about the Wes Welker hit (in 2008). I hit him with all arms and shoulders. So if that starts to be a penalty we'll wear flags and see what we can do from there."

Clark and several others said they'd like to see the NFL take measures to protect defensive players as well.

"You look at a situation with Troy (Polamalu), who gets a head injury (in the Browns game) standing straight up and (running back) Peyton Hillis lowers his head and hits Troy in the face, there's no fine about that," Clark said. "Nobody talks about that because Troy didn't lay on the ground, because that film wasn't shown over and over on ESPN."

Polamalu said today after practice that he is "fine" though the Pro Bowl safety added that Hillis initiated helmet to helmet contact.

"I think (protection of players) should be both ways," Polamalu said.

:crying: What a whiny puss. At least TJ Ward took his fine in stride. His hit on Shipley wasn't nearly as bad as Harrison's on Massaquoi either. Harrison's #### should have been ejected. The refs really dropped the ball in that game.

Fitzpatrick continues on his amazing run as the best (statistical) QB in the NFL at this point in the season.

Would you believe 374 yards and 4 (count em FOUR) TDs today?? Ok, also 2 picks, no one's perfect. Good for 29.96 fantasy points in my standard scoring league. Unfortunately, I chickened out and didn't play him, he's on my bench. I feared the Ravens defense and played Kevin Kolb instead. I'm going to win fantasy this week anyway, but MAN the stats Fitzpatrick is posting! Just too bad for the Bills it's still all in a losing effort, 37-34 in an OT heartbreaker.

Da Bears lost too. Our D is getting the job done, our O should be fired en masse. Cutler threw 4 picks and a fumble.

Packers/Vikings ended in a cliffhanger tonight. That last Minnesota drive in the 2 minute warning is what makes football so exciting.

The throw to Moss, the celebratory dancing on the field by Favre on his wounded ankle, only to have it called back as out of bounds, and then getting so close only to lose it. And as always, AD is just a machine out there powering downfield.

I'm a Bears fan, but face it - it sucks watching the Bears play. The Vikings and Colts are the two most exciting teams in the NFL today, whether they win or lose.

Cutler was like that in Denver so I'm hardly surprised. The Bills find new and unique ways to lose but the Raiders destroyed the Broncos. WOW!

Favre took time out from celebrating to send pictures of his genitals to various, unsuspecting members of the crowd and other personnel. Aaron Rodgers will never be the same. :P

Who dat? The most exciting team in the NFL yesterday was the Browns! To recap...

1.) A cross field lateral on a punt from Cribbs to Wright for 60+ yards. Good thing because Wright sucks as a DB.

2.) A fake punt for 60+. Man Hodges (the punter) can run!

3.) 4 picks for Brees, 2 to David Bowens for TD's. Brees and his wife had a kid this past week and they named him Bowen. Somehow I don't think that would have been the kids name if he were born this week.

4.) They still suck.

The Brownies only beat the Bills, now they beat the Saints. Brett Favre and his pics strike again, Poor Drew Brees.

The Browns beat the Bills last year about this time, the Bengals this year.

Looks like Brees had that big azz mole removed from his face and hasn't been the same since. Maybe it held his football powers? The Browns having their D line stand up at the line of scrimmage may have threw him off too.

I forgot about Colt McCoy getting his first career reception. Hillis put it right on the money too, for his first completion (I think). Pretty stupid play really, when you're working with your 3rd string QB. I thought he got hurt for a second. Now they'll probably bench him and put JD or Wallace back in after the bye. I say play the kid. He didn't win that game, but he certainly didn't lose it.
