Hello!

My family and I will be making a short trip to Toronto soon, and will need a babysitter for one night. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for a babysitting service. Both good and bad references would help. Thanks in advance! :)

Hi JVKn'CVO,

I don't know about babysitting services in Toronto...(I've never had to use one...)

But....

Having lived in Toronto for many years, and going there to visit pretty often nowadays (as I only live a few hours away from Toronto), I know things in Toronto don't come cheap.

I would expect the going rate would be at least minimum wage in Canada ($7-10 per hour, plus 15% tax)...

And probably even more, if you have to pay for food and other things for the babysitter/babysitting service....

So personally, I would think it would be cheaper (and a lot more fun!) to take your child with you sightseeing, instead of leaving them off with a babysitter...Just a thought...

I usually travel with my (1yr old) son, and we don't seem to have too many problems travelling to Toronto...

There are child-friendly places I can personally recommend to visit and other travel tips to Toronto I can recommend, if you would like...

What things in Toronto are you and your family intersted in?

Anyways, I hope you and your family have a fun time in Toronto, as yes, it is a nice place to visit....

I too do not know many places in toronto for childcare, although there are a lot. My mom is a childcare provider she watchs a child in the families home 5 days a week and might be up for a extra evening of work. Are you planning on staying at a hotel? If so are you looking for someone to come to you? what date are you looking for? I understand wanting a babysitter for an evening as sometimes its nice to see the "night Life".

Ant if you read their post it says: "For one night" so maybe they have some plans and are unable to take their child with them for that ONE NIGHT.

To the OP: Check online nanny services I guess. That's probably your safest bet since you may not personally know anyone. I don't know of any but I am sure google and proper research can direct you to reputable agencies.

Actually, why not contact the hotel you are staying at and ask them if they have any recommendations? You are probably not the first couple who has faced this situation and they may have a list of reliable babysitters they can refer their clients to as needed.
