Hi everyone,

Im in the AOS process, and everything except for the part about the medical is alright. I filed for my K1 in Sweden, and did my medical exam there before the interview at the embassy. After the medical the doctor gave me an envelope with all the medical info in to bring to the interview WITHOUT OPENING IT. So I did, and then after my Visa was approved at the embassy they send me this sealed envelope with all the info I was supposed to bring to the US when entering on K1, and again, not to open, but give sealed to the immigration officer at the border. And this is what confuses me now, I paid 350$ for this COMPLETE ead to toe exam and was cleared as completely healthy, including vaccinations complete. I also read at that time, that I wouldnt haver to do an adiitional exam in the US for AOS if I had done this within a year.

But now when Im supposed to file AOS and they ask for the vaccination forms, I dont have any of this or copies, since I had to leave all of it straight from the doctor to the embassy without the possibility of taking copies... What should I do now? Ive been trying to contact the doctor about this and see if he can write another vaccination copy, but he won't respond... I paid 350$ for this 3 months ago, and it feels like a big rip-off to have to pay again for something I couldnt do anything about the time (make copies...) Please if you know how to approach this, let me know, Im stuck!

Thanks, blessings, Ladyzoul.

You should have gotten a form I-693 vaccination supplement apart from the sealed envelope. That's what my wife and stepson got. We still had to go to a civil surgeon before the interview any way because it said more shots were needed that weren't available at the time. This cost $300 but I think they said if no shots were needed it would only be $50. That should be all you need since you already had the medical and it's in the sealed envelope.

I'm wondering if maybe the doctor made a mistake and put the I-693 in the sealed envelope, in which case they already have that also.

I think if I was you I would just go ahead and file and enclose a note explaining the situation about the I-693. You will have plenty of time to make an appointment with a civil surgeon and get it straightened out before the interview if you have to. We had 19 months. Hope you don't have that long.

I'd wait for a second opinion from somebody here before following my advice though. I'm far from an expert. Just somebody who got approved today.

Unfortunately there seems to be a number of people who went through the K1 medical examination and for whatever reason weren't give a copy of the DS-3025, which has the vaccination information. (I-693A is only used for AOS, so that's not the form you are missing.)

Lucky for us, my husband was given a copy of all the paperwork from his medical examination, and this from a newly appointed panel physican doing his first K1 examination and in a third world country to boot! We went to a civil surgeon to get I-693A filled out for AOS, and my husband needed three more shots, so we ended up paying $180.

A few suggestions:

1) You say the doctor isn't responding, but have you tried calling on the phone (vice email)? Seems like it's a little harder to hide from a phone call. Surely he has a receptionist or nurse who can check into this for you.

2) Do you have copies of whatever vaccination records were used at your medical examination to show that your had all the needed shots? If so, I would think the civil surgeon could use them to prepare I-693A.

3) If all else fails you can have a titre done to see what vaccinations can be detected in your blood. Not sure how much that would cost though.

Thank you! I think that my doctor made a mistake by not giving me any copies. However, I do have all the original vaccination papers from when i was a kid so if I cant get him to send me any copies now, I guess I will have to take these vacc.papers to a doctor here and pay yet another fee for this, seems like the only way. You're kind of used to it at this point, you know paying and paying and paying for all kinds of stuff associated with the process, its really a business out there from this! Thanks again, Ladyzoul.

Wow, it feels like just yesterday we were in your shoes.

I find it unbelievable that immigration hasn't resolved this confusion yet, with the question of vacc. supp. or no vacc. supp.

My wife had her medical done in Brazil with the embassy doctor and we weren't given any copies (and my wife did ask for them, and he said you won't need them). Anyway, those sealed doc's were given to the immigration officer, which gave us sealed doc's to give to immigration at POE.

We saw the same thing about the vac. supp. when we filed I-485 and didn't know what to do. I did some research on this site and listened to a VJer, who said he wrote a letter stating that he never received any copies of his medical exam and gave the sealed docs to the immigration at POE. He didn't receive an RFE, so we decided to do the same thing.

Well, we never received an RFE, the immigration officer never asked us for the vacc. supplement, and Pamela should be receiving her GC any day now.

Good luck on whatever route you decide to go.

yes, you should be able to take the original vaccination records that you have from Sweden, go to a local civil surgeon and have him transfer the information onto the Vaccination supplement. It should cost you around $50 but the price may vary from $10 to $100 depending on the civil surgeon. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
