That one blogger doesnt represent the whole tea party movement but I stand corrected this is getting more attention than I expected.

That is what happens when you allow hysterical public opinion to drive a response to such things as the 'GZ mosque' and why it is necessary to pay close attention to attempts to blur the edges as to what does and what does not symbolize terrorism. Pushing American muslims into the sidelines is a bad move. American sentiment does not naturally lie in persecution, it lies in allowing individuals the freedom to practice their own beliefs as long as those beliefs do not infringe on the rights of others. That's how it should be and everyone should be protected by this sentiment, not just muslims, but jews, christians, atheists, agnostics, hindus, etc. Only when the beliefs hinder others should the state and national sentiment step in. Law abiding muslims have not crossed this line, period.

Nice web page A.J - I'm not sure I feel blessed after having read that.

Freedom of speech, you gotta love it - freedom of ignorance however, not so much. I'm against you Annie, I'm against you and your ignorance.

Who is this Annie? Should we know her?

A light bulb kind of fizzled on above my head when I read this. Now Amby's reference makes more sense.

Well if such is the case my apologies to Madame Cleo.

The GZ mosque issue is a whole different topic that has very little to do with this topic.

Overall America as a country has gone beyond the call of duty in trying to make sure we dont push Muslims to the sideline.

As far as this issue goes I wish these right-wingers would just shut up.

Read it or not, it's not important to me.

I read it. I disagree with a lot of what she wrote.

No, it's not really, it is hysteria that drives the whole 'building a mosque blocks away from GZ is insensitive' issue that creates the sort of climate where objection to all kinds of legitimate activities surface.

There is no 'beyond the call of duty' as regards accepting the legitimacy of law abiding muslims, particularly when they are US citizens. I would agree however that for the most part, American sentiment is not in step with extremists on the issue of allowing law abiding muslims to undertake perfectly legitimate activities, however it doesn't take much for such things to change if one stops paying attention.

Yes there is a element of hysteria taking place in both circumstances. Beck makes the claim that its insensetive but little does Beck know this goes on every year regarding six flags. The mosque issue is different, its unique because of where its going to be built(blown out of proportion yes) and who is building it.

I believe there is such a thing as 'beyond the call of duty' in the regards that you can only do so much before you have start directing your attention towards a more productive path.

Read it or not, it's not important to me.

The 'controversy' over this 6 Flags Day is in no way the same as the Ground Zero Mosque beyond exposing those involved in both being the ignorant bigots you protest. The flap over reserving 6 Flags for a day is indefensible.
