wo's geht N/A hinschreiben. manchmal lässt es einen das nicht machen. Ansonsten einfach " - " oder none.

Ich bin auch über Detroit geflogen und hatte dazu bereits hier in diesem Thread einen Bericht verfasst.

Schon bei der Sitzplatzwahl habe ich geschaut das ich relativ nahe am Ausgang sitze um so gleich als erster rauszukommen.

In Detroit war das aber nicht wirklich notwendig. Selbst zur stressigsten Zeit um 12:00 (Gibt Statistiken bei der TSA wenn dich das interessiert) war ich Nummer 5 in Line. Es waren genügend Schalter offen und so musste ich 5 Minuten warten.

Der Officer wusste was er tat und hat kurz die Unterlagen angeschaut, mir 1-2 Fragen gestellt und das obligatorische 90-Tage-heiraten-Gebet.

Das wars, hat alles in allem keine 10 Minuten gedauert. Am längsten musste ich auf meinen Koffer warten :-)

So, ein mal auf Englisch weil es schneller und einfacher ist für mich.

We haven't had the interview for my husband's visa yet, and his medical is this coming Friday in Berlin, but I've already started pricing how much it will be to send boxes from Germany (Dresden) to California. We are not taking all of our belongings, but some things that hold sentimental value will be brought with us.

I'm already afraid that we will not be able to fit all of our clothes in our bags, so it looks like we will have extra baggage regardless of if we bring sentimental things with us.

In any case, did anybody else send boxes to the USA? If so, what company did you use? Or did you pay for extra baggage to be brought on the plane with you? The prices just seem outrageous right now! With Lufthansa (our preferred airline), it looks like it's going to cost 150€-450€ per box. And shipping with FedEdx or UPS will be 250€ or more per box. This is for a box 18*18*25, with an estimated weight of 10kg. That just seems ridiculous to me.

Any advice would be awesome. Und auf deutsch geht auch.

Hi Veronica,

I used DHL to send some boxes with clothing and household goods to California. A box that weighs up to 10 kg costs 47 €, a box up to 20 kg costs 68€. The measurements can be up to 120x60x60 cm, that is huge, I did not even use boxes that big because they would have gotten too heavy to be properly packed and stable. That´s why I split up my stuff and mailed 6 different boxes. Take a look at the website www.dhl.de.

Also, some airlines offer 50% off on additional bags if you pay online beforehand. I am flying with KLM and my extra bag only cost 56 €!

Where in Cali will you be staying?

I had actually already looked at the DHL website and did not see those prices. The prices were all over 200€, which is ridiculous. But now that I read your response to my husband, he did the exact thing that I did on the DHL website and found the prices you quoted. My luck. haha.

I also used DHL. I believe I sent around 10 big boxes of 20/30 kg each, plus a couple of smaller ones that were 5 kg each. I ended up spending around 800 Euros, which was substantially cheaper than any moving company would have been. All the packages were sent off the same day, but took between 3 and 6 weeks to be delivered.

DHL 1 box = 68 Euros und 2 ich habe es bekommen 2 Monate spaeter. Aber es lohnt sich wenn du 2-3 Koffer hast, mit der Flugzeug mitzunehmen es kostet 100 Euro pro Koffer Aber du hast deine Sachen "bei dir"
