I am preparing for my interview and I came on a J-1 visa to the US a while ago. I went back and obtained an F-1 visa to continue my education here and I am presently adjusting my status to permanent resident. My J-1 visa was not subject to the 2 year residency requirement, but my visa does not state that or any other language touching on the residency request. I learnt that the DS 2019 would have such information and I am trying to locate it but I don't seem to have it in my stuff. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of this document?

Try speaking to the instiution who sponsored your J1. Apart from that, i beleive you can ask the issuing embassy through some means, but i cant tell you the process.

Maybe you can call the NVC or Department of state and see if they can tell you.

Usually people are subject to the 2 year rule:

1. If your job is funded by the federal government or your government.

2. if your government has a Skills list published by the US Department of State

Good luck
