Hi guys,

I have done my interview and passed on August, 11th 2010. and i still did not receive any mail from USCIS. I was wondering if this is normal. i saw some people on this site said they interviewed and did ceremony the day before my interview date. After I passed the test the lady gave me the certification of the test that i passed and she said im good to go home. but when i was waiting in the lobby for the test i saw people were called up and asked to comeback at 2PM. how come the lady did tell me to comeback at 2PM? is this normal? what should i do??

Thanks.

First, congratulations on passing your exam and interview :) .

What time of day was your interview? Atlanta can do same day oath ceremonies for individuals who had their interviews early in the day - generally before 11 am. If your interview was after 11 am, then they don't have enough time to process all of the paperwork in time for the 2 pm oath ceremony. My interview was at 12:05 and another VJer's (on the same day) was at 11:40. Neither of us were invited to the same day ceremony, but while we there waiting to finish everything up, people who were scheduled for the ceremony were arriving. What you saw were people who had had their interviews earlier in the day being confirmed that they would be able to do their oath ceremonies that day. You didn't do anything wrong, nor is there anything wrong with your application.

You should be receiving a letter very soon telling you when your oath ceremony is scheduled. Atlanta is very busy - they sometimes have 2 oath ceremonies a day - so I am sure you will hear something very soon. If September 11th comes and you haven't heard anything yet, you can try calling the 1-800 number and say you are overdue for your oath ceremony and would like to know when you have been scheduled. If you are scheduled, they will be able to look it up and tell you; if you are not, then ask them to open a service request which is an official inquiry into the status of your situation. Hopefully, that should be enough to trigger someone to schedule your ceremony.

I hope you hear something soon - you should get the letter about 2 to 3 weeks prior to the actual ceremony but sometimes it is sooner than that.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
