Anyone tried Mirena? How about Paragard?

Nessa,

I've Paragard for a year and a half before I decided to have a baby - love it but the first few month I had pretty bad cramps. My friend loves hers though. You get heavyer period with Paragard (normal period like you would have without any other type of bc) and the cramps normally go away. It worked very good for me. (It last 10 years)

Now I have Mirena (put in 6 weeks after gave birth) no cramping and very little bleeding after insertion. I'm BF so I dotn know when I'll get my period back. I just got used to not having periods for so long I want Mirena so that it helps with having less period. The hormone in Mirena is limited to the uterus so the side effect for the normal hormone pills doesnt apply here. I dont know if I want another baby so 5 years of BC is good for now :)

The reason they dont like to put IUD for women with no children is that it's expensive and it is a long term birth control so if you change your mind and want a baby in a few month after getting the IUD, it's just costly and inconvenient. But it's great because after they take it out you can get pregnant right away and doesnt have to wait for a while like pills.

The string - it can be irritating if it got cut too short but the string get soften over time.

let me know if you have any question, my work is full of expert on birth control especially IUD :)

I use the generic version of Yasmin and so far I've had no problems with it, I take it every day when my cell phone alarm goes off. It's really not as much hassle as you would think.

Ocella? I'm on that. I used to take Yasmin until I moved to the US & it cost double the price, even with insurance!

FAM here too and never got pregnant by accident. I tried several pills but never reacted well to them. None of them are free of side effects and some are pretty scary! FAM combined with condoms for the dangerous days worked well and is really easym one can even use websites suc as fertility friend to help analyze one's fertility pattern. Longterm however we are planning on a vasectomy once we are finished with having babies.

The other upside of FAM is that when you plan to get pregnant, you know when you ovulate and if your luteal phase is long enough to sustain pregnancy. Takes a lot of guessing out of the planning :)

I know four vasectomy babies. I don't think it will be any option for us. All those people had been cleared by the doctor and still the women got pregnant. All four babies are girls :)

Yea Ocella is what I take. before I switched though, Yasmin used to cost me $60 a month. thats $2 a pill and 7 of those pills don't even have any drugs or hormones in them! :o yikes! luckily that was only for about a year and it was back when I was still on my parents insurance so my mom just paid for it. Now that I'm on the generic its $15/month, which is much more reasonable.

Abstinence - the only form of birth control that is 100% effective.
Uh, you forgot "any female who wears Birkenstocks" as the greatest contributor to voluntary birth control, gag man.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

I don't believe it. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/03_15/b3825616.htm Once she takes the Birkenstocks off, no guy would pass her up.

I also don't think that shoes could really be a form of birth control :)

Well, Dear, as any real man would, I scoped your photo, and you do look pretty hot. :) However, if Mrs. T-B. tried either action, I'd kick her shapely hindquarters straight back to Ecuador, si man. Oh, wait... she's down there now, si man.

Which reminds me: Bets on how many more days it is until she calls, using her sweetest voice, and says "Sometimes, husbands go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy their wives a ponytail." [plaintively] "Mine got damaged." Last time, I dutifully obeyed, walked into the store while feeling like a complete alien, and asked, "Uh, can you please direct me to the Ponytail Department?" I was pointed to the appropriate wall, where I managed to procure the correct model. After paying and leaving, I checked my sanity and my physical evidence of manhood just to be sure that both remained. The sanity had fled long before, of course, si man. :)
