Hi fellow VJers, some questions on Chennai consulate CR1 interview process..

1. What does the medical exam consist of? How long will it take? I was planning to go and return the same day evening. Anyth that we can do in advance like taking any set of vaccines from any reputed hospital in your state and take the doc's ceritifcate? but then again, what kind of vaccines u take? am sure, probably i had all vaccines done..but no record though. Also,do you take the medical records yourself to the consulate or drop that at the VFS counter or so?

2. Do they really need i864 notarized? thats gonna be a big blow for us. The only reason we did not notarize it was because it was mentioned not required in the instructions. now when we checked the consulate website, they say it shud be notarized-- http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/immigrantstous/common-mistakes-on-iv-applications.html what to do, now that the i864 is already with the NVC?

3. Do they give back the originals of certificates the same day?

4. Who receives the appointment letter for the interview thru postal mail? Is it the USC spouse cos she was the 'Agent' thru the choice of agent letter?

5. Any other stuff that shud be remembered and taken care? I heard they do want to see the old passport.

Thanks a bunch for your patience and replies..

Wow, thank you for pointing out the requirement that the i864 should be notarized. If you haven't received your interview date, you probably have at least until October. I think you can fill out a copy of the i864 sign it, and have it notarized at any bank. Then even if you mail it now, your spouse should receive it well ahead of the interview date.

As for whether it's really required, better to be safe and have it just in case.

For the vaccination exam, make sure you have all your past vaccination records.

I heard for the interview, you should bring photo albums, phone records, anything to prove the marriage was real and that there's an ongoing relationship. And of course, your spouse should know the names of your siblings/parents, where you work, your background, etc.

hear, its bcs the chennai website is not updated. i864 isnt reqd to be notarized from 2007 or so it seems. a simple google-search seems to give the same opinion.

i dont know if its possible in some other ways.. but if not, there shud be space on the form for notary to sign/affix his stamp..ryt? its not here in the form..

do you know if notary can put his signature elsewhere?
