Anyone else living together abroad?

I haven't heard of anyone else in my shoes.

I'm a US citizen but live in Mexico with my boyfriend (I've been in MX for 3 years on a work visa). We've decided to go the K-1 route - I'm getting ready to file a petition so we can move to the US. I'm planning to send the documents to a friend and have them send it to the service center for me (so I don't have to return to the US). Is there any problem with this?

Also it seems like it would be easy to prove we know each other (since we live together), but I can't think of anything besides photos to send as proof. Any ideas?

Started our visa journey applying for K-1: Oct 11, 2006

Interview at CDJ, K-1 visa granted: Feb 13, 2007

Married: Apr 13 2007

AOS approved: Aug 29, 2007

I-751 Lifting Conditions approved: Aug 8, 2009

You need to provide an address in the U.S. when filing for a K1. So, if you're having a friend mail stuff for you, be sure to use his/her address there.

I think you could send as evidence of having met some bills sent to you and your fiance showing that you live together?

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

As Mew said, you need a US address to file the K1. You can use your parent's address, for example. But you don't need to send it to someone to send to the service center. Just send it from Mexico using Fed Ex. I did this with no problems as have many here.

Depending on how soon you want to move back, you may also want to consider getting married there and filing the I-130 and I-129 together. The I-130 filed alone takes more than a year to get a spousal visa interview in Mexico but if you file both, the I-129F after the I-I30, you an usually get an interview date in 4-6 months. Check out the guides to read about it if you are interested. . . just another option. Also check out the guides for what is required to prove that you have met in the past two years.
