Go there en route. Or, wait till after AOS and save more in the mean time!

AKA she likes big shiny rocks.

Yeah, run that "old fashioned way" by her and see if she'd still like it!

Noted.

I'll see how this goes in about two years. "I miss gamboorgers!"

I never quite figured this out. Alla buys like 5 lbs of ground beef to make meatballs. To the ground beef she adds bread crumbs, onions, eggs, garlic...I don't know, a bunch of stuff and it tastes really good, then she fries them in one of those huge covered frying pans. This is good healty "natural" food, of course accompanied by potatoes, cheese, sour cream...yada, yada, you KNOW what I mean.

But I skim a pound off the thawed meat, make some patties which are just "meatballs" in a flattened sahpe and without all the "stuff", cook them in the same pan and I get accused of feeding the boys "terrible gamboorgers! Why not just take them to McDonalds???!!!!" Must be the ketchup and mustard.

Not to nit-pick, but don't you have to have seen each other in the last two years to apply for a K-1? Or how did that work out?

We met 2008 Between July and August. As long as we applied for the visa within two years, we should be ok.

Yes, for the petition that is correct. An approved petition is not an approved visa. I hope you have lots of evidence that you had an ongoing relationship of the type which leads to marriage and that you are not doing this to avoid the normal immigration procedure. While many have received a visa with only one personal visit, they are typically quite close to when they file the petition and therefore have not been too terribly long apart.

My advice, and I always advise this...go to the interview. If they will not let you in to the interview area (Kiev does but I understand that Moscow does not) then send your passport in with your fiancee to show you are there.

It's because you're "frying" it. FOOOO!

You'll be just fine.

See hoop. Jump through hoop.

While many have received a visa with only one personal visit,

Unless you're 60 and she's 20, I wouldn't sweat it at all.

My advice, and I always advise this...go to the interview.

Don't waste your money.

No reason to be there for the interview. There's really no reason to visit after the interview either unless you're going to meet her family or something.

That's the very reason I'm going. To meet my future in-laws. I thought that would be a good thing to do, to show they can trust me and know I'm not stealing their daughter away. :)

I wish you good luck, but here can be one difficult moment in your story. She applied for other type of visa not far ago and what she had to write in her forms for this, no fiance? Here can be some question. It's already known here one case when a woman applied for tourist visa not far before filing petition fro K1 from her man and guess what was there? She met same CO at the time of interview and he was just perfect to remember her, now all hopes about a better escape. Be positive only be ready for some questions. Good luck!

My wife left voluntarily. I thought that was evidence enough that I wasn't stealing her.

To date, I haven't met the in-laws other than her sister. For the record, the only other family she really has is her mom. She's got some cousins and an uncle or grandma or something but they were never close. I may meet her mom someday but I've never really put it up there on my priority list. Now that her sister is married though, I wouldn't mind hanging out with my brother-in-law. He seems like he's down to party and if he was able to snag her smokin-hot sister, he's got to be a good dude.

On that note, funny story time. My wife was always asking me why I was so stupid because I'd stand there naked and "applaud" for her with no hands. She said "you such a stupid man. Russian man would never be do like zis because he have a respect for me." So, one day she's on the phone with her sister and starts cracking up laughing. Her sister asked her, "does your husband stand there naked and shake it back and forth? What the hell is wrong with these guys?"

Yep. I think we'll get on quite nicely.

As long as your dates match up, there's no problem.

What do you think? You think we have a legitimate shot? I know it's up to the embassy, but we covered every base we could think of, and I really do love her. I bought her engagement ring.n I had to propose online.. but first thing I do when I see her in the airport, I will drop to one knee and do the whole "in person proposal".

Just for the record the one knee appeals to me, but maybe not the Airport a little more private. Its been my experience that Eastern Europeans are not big on PDA (public display of affection) which is somewhat suprising considering the scantily clad and sexy apparel many of the young women sport in public in that part of the world.

You need to post some pictures of her reaction to her first trip to walmart observing how Americans dress in public, just don't see many Russians dressed in pajama's at the store.

I thought it was supposed to be followed with a "Woo woo" on your way past her.

This thread has really cracked me up. It's always fun to hear and remember all the things that we've experienced over the years and how similar they are.

Hang in there dmdaisey, it will get better once you are past this first step and into round two. Commit some of the comments to memory and you won't be too surprised when it happens to you. Good luck on your trip. Don't forget some small gifts for the in-laws, preferably something personal for each. But clear them with your fiancee first, you don't want to commit some cultural faux pas.

Good tip. I ran the idea by her and she was in high agreement. Only 5 more days until the interview... Thanks to all of you, I'm feeling much more confident!
