So we are poor people, and we ride a moped.

An hour ago while getting back home today me and hubby were stopped by an officer telling us that two people can't drive moped coz its illegal according to "Evansville" (city) law. I come home and search Indiana state law and its not illegal, as long as the moped is made for 2 seated.

So my question is if next time we are stopped for the same reason, can I throw the law book at the officer or will "Evansville" law overpower Indiana State law. Here comes Indiana Code 9-21-11-4

Thanks for any reply. And as far as getting a car, we are working on it, I do have my Learner License but don't get my driver's till December because of 6 months wait period according to Indiana motor vehicle law.

ETA --> Its 49cc moped.

Ok I won't throw, I will just hand over the law paper [:P]

Actually if u think the law is on your side, what you do is this. You let the cop pull you over. You accept the citation. You basically let the cop do whatever it is he or she wishes to do.

And then, once the cop is gone, you call a lawyer and let him "throw the law book" at the po po.

This seems like a better idea. Lot of cops don't appreciate anything they see as a threat to their authority. You could end up being tasered. ;)

right. most ppl in law enforcement were bullies in school. they are weak minded fascists on a power trip. don't challenge them outside of a courtroom.

judges are much better people, generally.

Well I believe I will only get tasered or shot or whatever if I act violently, right? All I want to do if this thing ever happen is tell them exactly what law says. I did call up the help desk and they told me officers know it better, when I said well what about Indiana state law, they asked me to call back on Tuesday to control room.

May be I am a bit fired up right now, we were minding our own business, following traffic rules and then get pulled over just a block from our home, it was kind of insulting letting neighbors think we might have been stopped for some serious crime. 2 cop cars stopped..........what the heck.

wrong.

:thumbs:

I gotta agree on the power trip thing. You may not get tasered, ok? But you'll catch a lot more shiat than you'd prefer to take, I'm sure. The only reason you got stopped by 2 of them is because they had nothing better to do than harrass you.
