My husbands interview was yesterday at the isb embassy in Pakistan n he's been put in AP ...he's been told it'll take 6-8 weeks ....my question is, would this AP process take any longer than usual because I'm a permanent resident (since 1997) pls reply ...I'd greatly appreciate it.

No longer than if you were an USC I would think.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

...he's been told it'll take 6-8 weeks ....

agree with previous poster that permanent resident status shouldn't (hopefully) affect anything but just so you know AP actually finishing in 6-8 weeks is rare, especially for a male from Pakistan. be prepared for a long wait, you can read up on AP in that part of the forum...

Thank you guys for ur replies...also the embassy has taken my husbands passport and so he wouldn't have to go back to the embassy since they said that they'll mail it to him with the visa stamped so therefore I could go back and spend as much time with him as I want ...what do u guys think? I mean me staying out the US won't really matter anymore right? N how long do u think the ap might take? Cuz ic so many different time lines for everyone ending from 2 weeks to 10 months but mostly within 4 months as I've seen. Thankyou for ur kindness.

generally from what I've read in MENA countries it's considered a good sign when they keep the passport, that AP might be comparably fast. Did you see the AP Tracker thread? Whatznext has been keeping this great spreadsheet attached of the AP cases coming through this forum. you can see the examples there, including what visa type and what country they're from. I've read about cases with AP less than one week to more than 2 years, so it's really hard to say anything definitively. Just stay optimistic and hope for the best!

As for going to be with him while waiting for AP, shouldn't be a problem, I would think, as long as you ensure you don't jeopardize your own PR status (what is it, like 6 months out of the year? or up to one year at a time? I'm not sure of the rules) If I didn't need to stay employed here I would be with my fiance right now as well :-)
