Once the Welcome to America letter is received, can we make an infopass appt. to have our passport stamped while waiting to receive the greencard? I believe that I read a few times before that this can be done, but just want to make sure.

My wife and stepson's passports were both stamped at end of the AOS interview today without even asking (I wouldn't have known to ask any way). Another poster said he was told they quit doing this as of Aug. 1 so I don't know what to make of it.

You could make an InfoPass appointment.

Of course, only reasons to get it now would be:

1. They took your EAD (I would be surprised if they did ) and you need to proove employment authorization

2. You plan to travel soon and travel document has expired or you don't have one.

Other than that - it is a waste of time and resources.

It is unlikely that you will be given the I-551 stamp at infopass unless you are planing on traveling before the greencard is issed.... most greencards are only taking about a week or 2 to be issued... so they feel the stamp is no longer needed....

1. it is normal for EAD to be returned at AOS interview.....

2. You can not use AP after you have been approved and it to is normally taken from you at interview if you have been approved.....

GC's arrive so quickly now after approval, that they are not issuing the stamps at most offices anymore.

If you received your Welcome to America letter, your GC is probably only a day or so behind at most.

I never had an AP or EAD, so I have not travelled or worked since I came here to the U.S. almost 2 years ago. I am planning a trip very soon and that is why I asked about having my passport stamped, but if the card comes soon, then I will not need it. Thank you to all for your help!!
