Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the word suggest a"process". Those who are not contributing in the process are not being Assimilated.

which does not address France specifically but it does deal with Muslims in europe and according to their research Muslims are different than other immigrant groups in that ... Children of Muslim Immigrants are LESS ASSIMILATED that their parents were.

If I were to move to France, I would be assimilated with french Culture, when I and my countrymen consider my views habits, customs, traditions and viewpoints consistent with French people.....or the Japanese or what ever country one strives to assimilate into.

As for America, sadly enough... the more broken our Assimilation process becomes the less clear it will be ..... what it even means for us.
