Hi Everyone

We are doing IR1 Consular processing for my husband. He is an Indian National living and working in Cayman Islands, he does posses a valid B1/B2 Visa, and has been here few times, before we started his processing.

His I-130 petition is approved, sent out Affidavit of Support, ready to send Applicant Documents. Our Case no. starts with letters "BMB" which is in Mumbai, India. Now if he has to fly all the way to India for an interview from Caribbean, the easiest and quickest way for him would be to transit via Miami or Newark or Atlanta and just connect a flight to Mumbai, he will of course have in possession Packet 4 (Interview Appointment from NVC)

If not, it is the biggest nightmare for him to fly to Mumbai via London, which is double the money, requires Direct Airside Transit Visa, plus takes nearly 39 hours to get there, and he is working, so he can only get limited time off.

So do any of you guys think that he can transit thru US airport to fly to Mumbai for his interview ?

I know it is not a very common situation, but has any of you been thru anything like this or does have any information about this. Any info shall be highly appreciated

Thanks

It shouldn't be a problem as far as I can assume. He's not coming in America as of now. He's only going to change his flight and remain within the airport. I don't think anyone else in VJ has encountered this situation.

A better question (to which I do not know the answer) might be if they would allow his interview to be conducted by a different USA embassy, located either in or much nearer to, the Cayman Islands?...

There should have been somewhere for you to list him closest embassy on the forms you filled out. What did you put?

Thanks for interest.

Yes that is what we thought, if that happened that is the best thing. I had sent one email request, they denied it and said, that if we can send some proof such as work permit copy, and other identification, so have sent out that info already yesterday. (A copy of his work permit, drivers licence and employer letter). Hopefully they change it this time, I was just thinking if they didn't agree to that, what could be done.
