Remove post counts or don't include off topic posts and polls in post counts.

I would modify this by saying DO show post counts, just not little boxes and hearts. A post total will let people know if the person has been on the site a long time, but isn't nearly as spam-inducing as little boxes and hearts are, apparently.

You can tell how long they've been on the site by the Joined date. A large number of posts is meaningless if they are mostly off-topic posts regarding non-immigration discussions and post boosting. If it is to be used as a guage of someone's experience or involvement of the immigration process, then limit the count to immigration topics and enforce a no hijacking rule about taking immigration forum topics off track.

In almost two years I never noticed the little "Advanced" option underneath the search bar. Maybe it could be made bigger for dumbazzes like me?

I think the search feature could use some improvement, particularly to allow searches for short strings, such as "AOS". I think right now, newcomers have a hard time searching for useful posts. Maybe also an option to search the topic title as opposed to the contents would help. That might also encourage people to write more explicit topic titles.

I agree with that one

That will teach me to read through all of a post

You can make edits within 5 minutes currently. This was pulled in from indefinately due to abuse in the past when people made changes to what they said and denied saying it...

I would like to see that changed to 15 or 20 minutes. Sometimes I don't catch a typo until the 5 minute limit has just passed. Even if I do catch it right away I feel too much time pressure to fix it in 5 minutes, especially if its also a case of needing to add more information.

Proposed solution:

Write your post and let the 'preview' sit for the amount of time you need to go back and fix typos or the extra info.

To add to your post, start a new reply & it will be amended onto your first post.

I'd like a button on my laptop that zaps other posters when they say something I don't like.

I'd like to ensure that no one else gets that luxury.

Terms such as EAD, I-864, I-134, I-130 etc etc wont show in the advanced search...I always draw a blank on those ones and they are very important to be able to search for.

It is fun having hearts added when you post. Why is having some fun so bad to YOU? :(

give me a break! This is supposed to be a fun sight too! People come here to get information and certainly to have fun. if you control every little tiny thing. people will visit other boards and VJ will

be just another DEAD board. its the people that make VJ. its VJ unique qualities that keep it going.

Exactly. It's supposed to be fun. And reading through 84 posts of ####### to find something useful isn't fun.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
