Hi,

I am not very clear on the number of Police Clearances requred for a CR1 visa. I am married to a US citizen. My consulate is Mumbai, India. Apart from my current city of residence, I have stayed in 2 other places since i reached the age of 16 one out of which is my birth place. Do I require to get a PCC from both these places as well? I have not been staying there in the past 7-8 years. Also for my current city of residence do I require a PCC from the local Passport office as well as the Police station (meaning 2 separate documents) as the Passport Office anyways gets the record from the local Police sation while issuing the PCC. Can anyone please guide on the total number of PCC that are required.

Thanks a lot for your time and information!

you need police clearance certy and paspport clearance certy but ..

1) you have to summit only orignal police cleareance certy to NVC. and passport clearance certy need when you go tomumbai embassy for visa that time they will need it,

2) When you go to police station for your police certy.. and if they mantion that you lived this current adress only 2 year on your police certy than you need other certy . where do you lived befroe riched age of 16 and if they do not mantion anything on cert than only one cert will fine for nvc.

You need two types of PCC

1.PCC from your passport office wherever your passport was issued.

2.PCC from Local District Superintendent of Police office.

You have to get PCC from all the places you lived more then 6 months after age 16 and above.

IF your passport is issued within the past six months;you may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Hope this helps

Good luck

Thanks a lot for the information. So if my passport is from a place other than where i am staying right now, then do a need a PCC from the local Passport office or the Passport office which issued my passport? I have one from the local Passport office but not sure if I need to get another from the Passport office which issued my passport. Also do i require to get both the types of PCC (i.e. from the Passport Office and the Local District Superintendent of Police office) from all the places where I have stayed for more than 6 months after the age of 16? Thanks a lot of responding.

If the NVC login fails, does it mean that you will not get an RFE? I am worried?

I understand it means that the papers went to the country where the visa is filled but can we still get an RFE?

kapad, Based on the feedback here SIF means your processing is completed by the NVC.

Thanks LOTO,

Ok that said that NVC has completed the process.

Can the Indian Mumbai emabassy give an RFE?

The reason is that the PCC we provided was given by the CID office. Now the individual police stations dont give the PCC (Local PCC).

Each hawaldar gives a different opinion and the officer said we cannot provide any seperate PCC.

So I am worried.

Kapad,

If the consulate officer needs the PCC from the police station, it will be AP 221(g) - Administrative Processing. Otherwise, you will just pass the interview.

If I have the PCC from the local Passport Office do I still need to get another one from the local Police station? (The passport office PCC anyways pases through the local police station as part of the PCC issuing process)

I did not get the local PCC since they said it is one and the same as the passport office PCC which one gets in VT, Mumbai. The local police do not give any PCC from their end and they said the one issued from Passport office in Victoria Terminus VT, Mumbai is enough. My case was approved in NVC. I GOT MY SIGN IN FAILUER at NVC. I am waiting for the interview date letter.

I shall keep you posted.
