I am a little confused. We returned our documents on an RFE and just got this email. Is this mean we are approved, denied or they do not know yet.

Have anyone received a notice like this, expecially with the 2nd paragraph. Our case was with the California Service Center. Don't they just send emails saying approved or denied?

Thanks for your help

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Decision

On September 2, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

I bolded the second paragraph because I wonder what it means in light of the first paragraph.

I am a little anxious. I know they mailed me a decision,, but from this email..what is it? I can't tell. I just want to exhale. Is this thing over for a time? UHHHHH, I certainly hope so.

Whoa! Wait a second! :o

Very few people are eligible to "register" permanent residence. This mostly applies to certain Cuban immigrants, or immigrants who have been present in the US since before January 1, 1972 (the first big amnesty). K1's do not "register" permanent residence. They "adjust status" to permanent resident.

It sounds like someone screwed up when they entered your case information into the "public" database.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Calm down! The "public database" is the one that they use for the online status updates, which is obviously not the same database they use to actually process applications.

I have a theory about this. I believe that their REAL database is not accessible through any internet portal for security reasons. Therefore, any case updates that can be monitored from the website have to be manually entered into the "public database". Because it's done manually, it's prone to a lot of mistakes, as we've all seen - the case status you see online is often wrong. However, even when the online status is wrong, the ACTUAL status is usually correct, which means they can't be using the same database for both internal and public use.

What I was suggesting was that the keyboard monkey who transcribed your case status into the "public database" probably pressed the wrong key.
