Has anyone used sheet protectors for their Packet for removing conditions.

So far I have a 1" binder that will fit up to 175 sheets.

Thanks.

I don't think you can be penalized for them. I used them on my denial rebuttal (packed 3inch binder) but I had extensive amounts of dopcuments request (it was just easier for me to organize it for them). A one inch binder doesn't sound like alot in my opinion, but the effort will show. They take the documents out themselves anyway and file them to their liking.

Also take into consideration where you are sending it...mine was sent to the actual service center, not a lockbox. There are also those folders that can hold "binder hole punched" documents. Maybe just use dividers for organization. It's up to you how you present your information though. Good Luck!

If I could be anything, I would be a tear.

Thank you for your prompt and detailed response.

I believe we sent a binder with sheet protectors for our I-129F and I-485 applications.

Its just been two years since we have done this and I am organizing all our paperwork now.

I assume that USCIS has a large locker box to accept all the incoming paperwork / pettitions.

Thanks again.

Doc.

Or, try the two hole prong fasteners and skip the sheet protectors, binder.

USCIS has published General Tips on Assembling Applications for Mailing which can be found HERE

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

This is what they say:

In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:

  • Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.
  • Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.
  • The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.
  • Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.
  • Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible.

My opinion is that USCIS is going to put their files together in their own folders. Somebody (a contractor) is going to have to take every paper you put in a sheet protector out and discard the sheet protector before he can get your file ready to be adjudicated. The USCIS person who finally decides on your case will not see your efforts. So if it's intended as a way to impress the adjudicator, save your time and money.

I tend to agree with the above. While it may look neat and tidy it is going to be a big job for someone to dismantle all of your work. They will want to remove all of the sheets anyway so I would save your time and $.

I also agree with the above poster....you'll be giving them more work to undo if you present your evidence like that. Just put the papers neatly together and secure them. No need for folders and individual sleeves. Those will get thrown away and your papers will be put into a plain file jacket.

Maybe you are right. I didn't try to impress the IO necessarily... But I think having everything organized makes it easier to see where one piece of evidence ends and the next begins... If you just have everything in a big stack he needs to look at every single page of for example the tax returns to see when 2008 ends and when 2009 begins... Plus, I was approved really quickly so I want to think that it did help to have a neat package ;) Might have just been coincidence.
