Hi,

Due to bad economy & my job situation, I had to get a Co Sponsor. I have applied for my wife & daughters immigration. He lives here in the US with his family & is a very old (childhood) friend of mine. My wife of course does not know him or his family members. At the time of interview, I think it is expected that she should know basic things like if there is a co sponsor & his name. I wanted to know if you know that:

** If the consulate is expected to ask specifc detailed questions about the co sponsor?

** The co sponsor does Not need to be a relative of the beneficiary, correct?

It is not expected that they know the co-sponsor (the beneficiary) -- you, as the primary sponsor, is taking on a co-sponsor to help you bring them here.

They do not need to be a relative of you - just an USC/LPR that is living in the US and is 18 and makes the level needed for your case.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
