Hi everyboby.

I would like to know if it is legal to get married in Las Vegas if i am french and my boyfriend american? We just spoke about wedding a few months ago but we want to do the right thing and the most important, the legal thing!

yes it is very legal as long as you get the proper paper work like the marriage license and you and your fiance have proper ID people get married in vegas all the time

Oh wait!!!!!! are you still in France? If so you need to file for a fiance Visa yes and go through immigration to come to the USA and marry your fiance you can then get married in Vegas. I assumed you were already here and just posing a question if it is legal to marry in vegas sorry about the assumption.

It depends. Are you planning on living in the US after you are married? There is nothing wrong with entering the US to get married, as long as you are not planning on staying here. If you want to remain here after you are married then yes, you need the K-1 visa first.

so if i understand well, i can get married in las vegas but i cant after that live in America? i need even if i married the K-1 visa to live there?

If you marry here and return to France, you will then apply for a CR-1 (spousal) visa. I don't have the stats for France, on if the K-1 (apply for visa, then marry and live here) is faster than the CR-1 (marry, then apply for visa and return to France until approved).

to clear it up for you you can enter the USA like now if you are here now on a tourist visa you can get married but must return back to France before your tourist visa expires then your US Citizen (husband because you have married) can now file for you and it would no longer be K1 it would be CR1 now. K1 is for fiance visas
