Medical Exam from Civil Surgeon

My husband is going for his medical tomorrow and I need to know since we are adjusting status, is the still doctor required to give us the completed Medical Exam document in a sealed envelope and if he is how are we supposed to attach a copy to the I-485 or is this only required when you are interviewing in the beneficiaries country?

The doctor will put the results in a sealed envelope and you include the sealed envelope in your package. DO NOT OPEN THE ENVELOPE. Good luck!

In my case they gave me a sealed envelope and a copy of it (marked as copy so I couldn't send it) to show me the results. =)

The copy is only good for your own records.

If the sealed envelope ever gets damaged, accidently opened or lost, get a new sealed copy from the doctor's office.

VJ itself suggests that, before you send your AoS, you make a copy of every single page. That way, if something happens to the original, or if you get an RFE, or if you simply want to see what info you put down at a specific question, you can. Adding a copy of the Medical itself goes with that way of thinking. You cannot use it with the actual AoS, but it is an integral part of the paperwork and should be copied, like the rest of it.

That's true. I did say it was good for your own records. But if USCIS loses the sealed envelope, for example, you would have to get a new sealed copy from the doctor's office. They wouldn't accept a copy that wasn't sealed by the doctors office.

That was the information from the doctors office when I did mine. They said about once or twice a year people actually open the envelope themselves and have to come back to get another one. He told me his office keeps the original on file for 2 years for that reason. I'm sure it varies for different physicians.

I just went to do the exam today and costed me about $260 (RPR, TB skin test, Tdap vaccine, & immigration physical.) I will have to go back to check my TB skin test result in 2 days. Honestly, the Dr. has warned me that I may get positive result of the TB skin test due to some vaccinations (I believe he said B.C.G.) Anyway, if I am tested positive, i will have to another few hundred dollars to do the x-ray.

I had B.C.G. vaccine when I was around 10, and I think I might have had to get another dose of it two years ago (I got a bunch of them so I can't remember if B.C.G. was amongst those) and my TB skin test was fine. Hopefully yours will be too!
