What visa are you adjusting from?

Edit: just checked your timeline. Pretty sure it's only those on fiance or spousal visas who sometimes don't have interviews. Never heard of anyone else NOT having one.

I'd bet money that you will.

Yup, what trillium said. Concurrent I-130/I-485 REQUIRES an interview. So in your case, 100% :) Good luck!

I thought I remembered someone on VJ about a month of two ago, adjusting from something other than a K visa, not having an interview? I shall go search...it is VERY rare.

I've seen the same thing posted about once a year or so. I'm not sure where one would find a percentage, but I agree VERY rare would be the appropriate description.

I couldn't find the specific post, it was probably within the April filers thread or something like that. It didn't have its own thread that I can find, but I am pretty sure I saw one - adjusting from an employment visa, if I remember correctly.

I thought people that posted in there saying they didn't have an interview were actually a K-1 and were in the wrong forum creating confusion. :)

Yeah, there were a couple of those, and in the May filers too, but I would swear I saw a non-K one that puzzled me. Along the lines of "Why not me!" devil.gif

Actually, there was a period of time (not sure if it is still the case) where having the file transferred to California (ie: no interview) actually ended up taking longer from filing to receiving green card than an interview.

Thank you for all the answers. I was just wondering. I know my mom didn't need an interview once she entered the country. They just mailed the card.

Marriage based need an interview except the K-1 and K-3 sometimes don't. Your mom didn't need one because the family relationship is right there on your birth certificate, nothing else to prove. A couple needs to prove they have a genuine marriage to be entitled to the benefits.

Rereading your post I am afraid that I may have misunderstood you. I assumed your mom came in under a relative visa because she was your mom. But now I think you might have been referring to her adjusting status from a marriage.

Sorry to bust in here. I understand then that if you sent an I-130 on its own it'd be forwarded to CA? I received a text-e.mail notification last week and upon reading it more carefully yesterday I noticed that our I-130 got sent to CA, and I was panicking because we live in VA. We had to send the I-485 later because it was rejected the first time. So do you think they'll get them together at some point? Gosh this whole thing is making me insane. :bonk:
